And Then She Left Me

In that dusky evening, She sat there on a lonely bench. I called for her but all in vain, For she was pondering over something unusual. As I had come there on her behest, I went up to her and sat besides her. She had a doleful face, And her eyes were all filled with tears. With a heavy heart I asked her the cause of her sorrow, My heart completely sank when she told me That she was in the final stage of her blood cancer. I somehow gathered my wits and tried to console her, She laid her head on my lap, And told me that we had very less time to spend together. That very moment I decided to recall to her, All the sweet memories we had since we first met. She lay there in silence with an amiable smile on her lips. After about an hour or so I looked at her back again, And it was then that I suddenly realised that she had left me alone forever..
