And I Am Lost
“The perfect one” breezed in; it was “in May“.
Like “petals in the wind,” “in dawn’s bright glow,”
“a kiss of sunshine” on a rainy day,
he brought the greatest “joy” I was to know.
We watched “sun” “golden” “in a hammock sky,”
“basking” until “after dusk” so “lost in love.”
With “prairie whispers” round us, we would sigh.
“My sweet one,” he was “what dreams are made of.”
“September” came. His “soft touch,” still “divine,”
“for just” a while endured! “Like fragile leaves,”
it withered and “true love” could not be mine.
So “taken hopelessly,” my heart still grieves.
“A year of glitter glow” now seems a dream.
“Snow falls” and “I am” lost “without hope’s gleam.”
