In the saloon Tom, Jenna and Tania were talking about Christmas week They wanted to spread some cheer for the good folks of Soup Creek Tom thought Milton would make a good Santa and hoped he'd agree Their meeting was rudely interrupted with sounds of a noisy melee. They went outside and Ranger David was looking very bemused In handcuffs was a scruffy individual who was looking very confused And had mean beady eyes with long hair and a long unkempt beard He was shouting obscenities waving his arms and acting very weird. Just then Sherrif Koplin appeared and asked David what was wrong David replied "I think he's on drugs or he's been in the sun too long I was over by Calypso Canyon on patrol, when I came across him He pulled a gun on me but it jammed, and said his name was Jim" Sheriff Koplin said "he's scaring the kids we'd best get him inside Then I'll telegraph Doctor Keller to come and get him certified I'll put him in the jailhouse for his own safety and for ours too Maybe he needs a spell in an asylum that's probably long overdue. The overland stage arrived next morning, Doctor Keller had arrived It had been a long sleepless night for the Sheriff but he'd survived Because the unruly prisoner had shouted obscenities all night long And for a man to behave in that way something was seriously wrong. Dr Keller had brought an assistant along, who looked like an assassin The doctor spoke briefly with the Sheriff then to the jail they went in The docs assistant had a straightjacket and rope; tools of the trade A crowd had gathered to listen to the racket that was being made. They came out half an hour later with the patient who was now secure But in the scuffle had badly soiled himself and stunk of fresh manure Doctor Keller approached the towns people and he had this to say "This poor wretched man is quite sick and we'll be taking him away" The overland stage then arrived in town and all three climbed inside A journey to Sacramento Asylum was about a five and a half hour ride The driver shouted and cracked his whip and they were soon on their way "Good riddance to you " said Sheriff Koplin "don't come back any day. written on 22nd November 2022

It is an intriguing story ! No one has any right to spoil the peace and tranquillity of a creek with smooth flowing waters. Throwing pebbles into it will cause ripples ! Glad that there is a dedicated team to take care of things headed by Mayor Tom.

Thank you very much Valsa, there are a few unsavoury characters on here and we're not going to put up with it. Its a site where we can read others, submit poems of our own and just enjoy it. Tom

I can smell the smoke'n gun from here keep'n down, them they'r clowns. What an open bar?? Count me in! Wow I can't believe how some of these clown's take advantage of freedom of speech. Freedom of speech was meant for protest, grievance, etc. No enabling the ones who use freedom of speech to insult and denigrate! Keep it up Mayor Tom

Thank you very much Demetrios, inspired by a lowlife on here who made light of the 911 victims, his kind are not welcome on here. Tom

Another great tale from Soup Creek’s founding member. Whoever ‘Jim’ is I hope he finds an electric chair soon. Of course it would have to be powered by lightning, so he might come back as Frankenstein’s monster… but then, would anyone notice the difference. Terry

He's blocked me, too, and who knows or cares who else. He should've been tarred and feathered then left to the vultures.

Thank you very much Terry, according to David he's removed his comments and blocked further comments on his garbage. Even threw his toys out of the pram because he didn't place on contests and had a dig at sponsors running the contests. Don't need creeps like that on here. Tom

Although I'm in the dark as to who the villain is, Tom your descriptive narrative is right up there with my favorite old western TV shows, Gunsmoke, Rawhide, oh and Monty Python. You missed your calling as a television writer. Buy you a shot of red eye at Jenna's saloon! Robert

The smell was terrible Tom, he’d been eating chicken beaks, and hog hooves for days out by Calypso Canyon, this is brilliant Tom, yeah he likes to scare the kids, but is terrified of adults, we’ve dealt with many of these cowards before, I agree with Milton the time for forbearance is well and truly over, even the Feds are watching him now, cheers David

Lol thanks David, maybe with hindsight you could have put a slug between his eyes and left him for the vultures. Last I heard Sheriff Koplin was fumigating the jail lol. Pity the poor low life that has to spend a night there. Tom

Mayor Tom, Let's hold a Thanksgiving celebration at the saloon as a potluck feast. The girls and I can roast a few turkeys if any of your cowboys want to hunt a few. Drinks will be on the house, and we'll give thanks that our town is safe. Not sure about inviting Nitrocat and granny because it's impossible to make ice cream (whatever that is) when we don't have the capability to freeze anything... rolling my eyes. Souperman has left, saying the Creek is too uncivilized for him.

That's a brilliant idea Jenna, im sure we can hunt a few turkeys but anyone joining the hunt will not be allowed to bring back any waifs and strays. Lol. A free bar will certainly draw the crowds. All guns to be checked in with the Sheriffs office, no exceptions.

Tom, you are to be congratulated for handling "Jim" with much patience and fortitude. I suspect others might like to have seen him shot. We've certainly had more than enough of his arrogant crudeness, rudeness, and pseudo-pedantic blather here in Soup Creek. Excellent writing, my friend. You certainly know how to spin a yarn.

In Honolulu, our streets are crowded with people like this, shouting obscenities all night, soiling themselves and not caring, etc. The police are not interested in putting such filthy creatures in their car. Aloha!

Nobody tells a tale like you do, Mayor Tom. That weird guy had a look about him that made me think he was either a psycho or wanted to be a big STAR, drawing attention to himself, acting like some kind of sun god. That was very disrespectful, and we gave him no reason to act like such a crazy man. Sheriff Kopling locked him up alright, but maybe he should've thrown away the KEY. I SURE do like the new sign on my saloon. Thanks for the free advertising, Mayor!

Thank you very much Jenna, if anyone thinks they can ride into town and stir up the pot well they can think again, the good citizens of Soup Creek are not going to stand for it. Hope I haven't broken any advertising rules re the saloon lol. Hopefully me you and Tania can finish our meeting and organise the mother of all celebrations for Soup Creek. Tom
