After Dusk
Dusk has descended.
Lights put on their sparkle show around the valley.
All daily chores behind me,
I’m engulfed by sweet relief.
Night drops quietude.
My house absorbs the silence.
Shadows come creeping as I embrace the solitude,
for I will wield a poet’s pen.
As my muse whispers,
I see two pairs of eyes that watch me placidly.
I scribble thoughts and at times. . . .
pause to pet my lovely cats.
