A Phantom's Story

His light steps on the cobbled streets
Caught fire from those feverish memories
They had walked hand in hand everywhere
Kissing moon-beams on each other

That thirst he knew so well, parched him again
His lenses heavy around his solo evening
He seared away every curious glance his way
Turning inwards, into her, his sole memory

He had loved her every sun-kissed way,
She had lived his dark hours on her song-wings
Their memories entangled from ways and lives
He is a phantom in places now, lone from her death

Water-stories from Venice, marble-history from Florence
The groves that sung their purple-flowered doorways
Nectar that seduced swollen bees and wine evenings,
Were all just cover-page beauty now, shipped to the waiting world

Another set of frames, relentless in their beauty
Their allure tossed in carelessly, for his survival
He warms icy winters, living their tales
A lens-man stalking worlds he once lived in…

A man alone in the gallery of love's labyrinth is the moral mandala I see herein Bindu. A powerful passion become past, haunting indeed. I'm always enthralled by your infusion of history, location, and epicurean passion." he had lived his dark hours on her song wings..." Enchanting as always, you are Enchantress. J.A.B.

how easily you refer to Asian terms! Not many talk about mandalas and gurus... this is a true story about someone, Justin. The story enchants me as well. I think if I really really fall in love with someone, I would get that way as well. So, I'll wait... on song-wings and mandala sutras:) thank you for visiting, its always great to hear what you have to say about my poems.

I really loved this somewhat gothic, yet romantic piece of poetry. This is a truly beautiful story of love everlasting. I am going to fave this poem, Bindu! :) ...By the way, I think this poem could fall under the poetic form of "epic".

Hi Richard, sorry I couldn't wish you back, been away these two days, the usual hectic beat.. The only thing nice was the heavenly vineyard I was living close to. It got me enough to attempt a poem:) Good night, would be the appropriate thing to say to Canada at this time, wouldn't it? Good nt!

Bindu, your writing talented is evident, for one more time. The form of this write is "prose", according to my opinion. Congrats on a beautiful, ardent write, and I advise you to carry on with the good work.

Hi Bindu: I loved this poem, especially the fourth stanza, "Water stories from Venice, marble history from Florence. It gives more of a romantic significance to each city.I also like your first name. I know another Bindu from Canada but her last name is Patel

Brilliant writing! The phantom has a sadness that you can almost feel. He seems so real that I just want to hug him until the pain goes away.
