A Marriage Creed

A Marriage Creed So now my little Man, you've gotten tired of grass" LSD, goof balls, hash" and pills. Someone pretending to be your friend - decided to introduce you to me, Miss Heorine. Well honey, before you start fooling around with me, just let me inform you of how it's going to be. I will seduce you and make you my slave, I have send men much bigger than you to their graves. You think that you can never become a disgrace and end up like poppy seed waste. You will start inhaling me one afternoon. You will take me into your arms very soon and once I have entered deep down in your veins - the craving for me, will drive almost insane. You will need lots of money ( as you have been told ) for darling - I am much more expensive than gold. You will swindle your mother and just for a buck, you will turn into something vice and corrupt. You will rob and steal for my narcotic charm and feel contentment when I am in your arm. The day you realize the monster you have become - you will sollemly promise to leave me alone. If you think that you have that mystical knack - than darling just try getting me of your back. The vomit, the cramps, your gut tied up in a knot, the jangling screaming for just one more shot. The chills and cold sweat, the withdrawls pains can only be cured by my little white grains. There is no other way and there is no need to look, for deep down inside you'll know that you're HOOKED. You will despertely run to the pusher and then you will welcome me back to your arm once again and when you return ( just as I foretold ) I'll know that you'll give me your body and soul. You'll give up your morals, your consceience, your heart and you'll be mine untill DEATH do us part...
)2/26/2014 Written by Lucilla M. Carrillo Note: This will be the last poem that I'll write on this. I don't want to bore you. I just feel that more people need to know about this problem...

You did not write this why are you claiming you did. It was written back in early 70’s and signed by anonymous. Why lie

I first read this poem in 1985; when I was a senior in high school. In fact I still have copies of it in my personal effects somewhere. In 1985 the author was " UNKNOWN". I don't understand why this lady is taking credit for something someone else written 20 years ago?

I first read this poem in a dear Abby column in a Rochester NY newspaper in 1978. Been carrying it around in my wallet ever since. I too am not sure why this woman claims it as hers. I know it as "author unknown"

Great poem but not original. It can be found all over the dating back much further than 4-1-14. It originated in the late 70's and I have an origingal draft. It's good to shine light on an epidemic but at least admit that it isn't yours. If you google 'The Marriage Creed' you will find many rumors regarding who, where and when it was written. Although I know all of those answers I choose to keep them inside. People enjoy it more if they believe that it was found the body of on an od'd person.

My mother in law wrote this, she was a run away being hid and a girl about 16 years old caught her eye and she cared about her she wrote her that poem and left it on her dresser and later that day Cheryl got arrested and sent back to Orlando. She said it was about 1977 or 78, I googled to see if I could find anything for her she’s always wondered about that girl and I would love to be able to find her for her.

This is an amazing poem. You capture what the "heroine" does to the heroine addict. I know people who really would rob their own mother to get drugs. I feel the voice of the destructive heroine telling the addict look you won't know what hit you when you try me and before you know it guess what you'll be Hooked! You're an awesome Poet Lucilla.

A very descriptive and sensitive write. I like that you made it clear that using heroin the first time is a choice, but after becoming addicted you lose the power to choose for yourself.

Great poem. A warning to any/all inclined to wander into the grip of such a beast. Sure wish Philip Seymour Hoffman had read & heeded. What a waste. Write on...nothing boring here!

Thank you Deb for reading. I think any drug is horrible. We should look out for the young kids, try to make them understand that it don't pay.
