A Dark Valentine's Day
Dark skies ravage –
punching, beating, leaving
bruises…black, blue.
In time, in memories,
night skies fall -
crushing, penetrating, scarring.
I am starved, defeated, I die a little
inside…
on a night
without stars.
Days are busy with
ringing phones, work, errands, smiles, visits, pleasantries.
Then darkness invades my lonely heart.
An unwelcomed reminder of my
LOSS
You were the light in my midnight skies.
When you left, the light disappeared –
I died a little inside…
In the day, I try to salvage the pieces of my
bruised heart, my bruised ego, my life.
At night, tears fall with the sky
into a pitch black pit of despair.
You are my all and nothing, my heaven and hell on earth.
If tomorrow I reclaim you,
I may bruise your heart, your ego, your life –
You may be left scarred under the weight of my love.
You may cry, plead, bleed,
But you will never lead again and never leave.
Happy Valentine’s Day to the one who thinks he got away.
*my silly attempt to cross over to the dark side for just a few :)
