No one asks how you feel Ready for some squishing Cold hands that tugs and pulls The breast is squeezed down and keep me captive First right breast ~ left breast the same treatment Totally humiliated, with you head glued to this Star World X-rays I am sure that this machine was created by a man Ten minutes you're done ~ your worst enemy is breast cancer 24.08.2016 - Sun :) - A-L Andresen :) Copyright © All Rights Reserved - Published in the Newspaper 29.08.2016

Cannot possibly sympathise enough. Hopefully new and less invasive methods of dealing with this are not far away. Poetry is such a good way to get things out there. that we need to think about. Cartoon is also effective. Good writing by the way. Regards David.

Ouch. The squeeze is on. I am sure (as you have noted) that the machine could have been made much more gentle. That should have been part of the design, but the inventors were not thinking of how you feel. Sad, but as you say, there are worse things.

I quit having mamograms years ago. I have thermography instead. You just stand there while a camera takes pictures. It is painless. I hate the torture of that machine I used to endure. Your poem expresses that pain so well Anne-Lise. 7 ; )

I can't understand why its not more widely available Connie - I've seen it on the TV and the cancer shows us as a 'hot spot' - so much less invasive for the woman and definitely much less uncomfortable!:-) hugs Jan xx

You have brought up the nightmare of every woman and every man as our friend, Victor, rightly indicated! The exam I know from my women friends is painful so I wish every woman (person) in the world to be cancer free! Wonderful writing and lovely message dear, Anne-Lise!

- Estimates from the British Cancer Society shows that as many as 11,500 deaths could be avoided only in the UK if the doctor had been consulted at an earlier stage ...... scary - Thank you for your enlightening and great comments, Demetrios :) - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

- We usually say that if men would give birth, they would not at all have children, for birth is too painful for a man :)) - Women must bear the pain - Arguments such childbirth, menstrual pain or mammography - All people experience pain in their lives and this we experience different from person to person - Thank you for your words and pleasant visit, Lynn - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

I didn't invent it but I'm happy that there is a machine that can detect the cancer.

Very well written ... I'm with you Anne-Lise that the machine was invented by a man - just imagine if a woman invented the same sort of machine was invented for testicular cancer ! Mamograms aren't pleasant - I've had about 5 as I've had lumps, but 10 minutes of discomfort or the risk of not detecting cancer ... I know which I would go with every time.:-) hugs Jan xx
