4 Wishes

I saw him standing there
with 2 pieces of gold
told me to reach out
make sure to choose right
4 wishes he told me were in my sight
what is the catch?
he said there is none
just that you found me
I can give you anything
what is it you want?
I thought about
what 4 things do I desire
should I make it about me?
or peace for the entire?
he said I have 4 days
granted on each one
I didn't have long to decide
for the sun was setting
the first thing I thought
this is my first wish
"make me beautiful, I want people to wish to be me"
questions in his eyes
he snapped his fingers and said
"beauty by surprise, surface now"
blonde and blue eyes
like I've always had
silver ring now glistened in my eyes
teeth white and perfect
skin so smooth you want to touch
this is what I wanted
this is my crutch

The second day
"what is it you want?"
"I want to be famous, now that I have my body I can
snapped his fingers and said
"famous eyes by surprise"
I felt myself change
turn into a 'Star'
little things don't mean the same as before
I am beautiful and famous
what more could I want?
this is what I worked for
this is what I want

The third day
"What do you desire for your third wish?"
"I forgot about fortune, grant me this"
snapped his fingers and he said
"Fortune don't ruin her, fortune by surprise"
the longer I stay here
the less I remember
the more I focus on
the one in the mirror
one more wish
there is no more I want

On the fourth day
for my last wish
looked at him and told him this
"What should I ask for? What do I need?"
"If you have no more, and your wishes are filled, grant
this wish to someone else, so they can be fulfilled"
"NO! Can't you hold it, and come back in one year, I
will have a wish then"
he disappeared
so I lived my life
famous and rich
nothing was out of reach
the world at my feet

One year later
2 gold pieces on the floor
I cried and begged him
please grant me my wish
appeared to me and said
"What is it you wish?"
"How could I have been so selfish and forget
my family and my friends, they all left
the wishes destroyed my true happiness'
I wish that it go back to the way it was,
I need them more than the worldly drugs,
the addictions and the lies, the pretentious, all the
He snapped his fingers and said
"Let life return, lesson learned"
