The summer fog has not yet lifted from the enclave. The candyfloss glow of the sun suspended above the horizon of the valley in the Jock of the Bushveld Concervancy where I have made my new home reflects on the ghostly blue of the dam in front of my house.

How not to steal from a mamba
That came to your house
To check on your children
How a little snake mamba
Comes in like robin hood
Asking children
Have you eaten anything good we can share

And maybe a little portion of food
Left for him everyday
Even in your thoughts 
And blessing from God
The Little mamba moves away
Singing dancing

There's a party down at the marsh,
amongst all the wild amphibians,
Theresa toad croaking alongside her tadpoles,
all one thousand and one of them,

Carla the crayfish catering all the food,
all of the partygoers in a festive mood,
the dragonflies doing their aerial light show,
getting much applause, they take a bow,
