I think of those who left their home.' To fight on battlefields
Unknown.' In mud and blight against Gallipolis heights
At Beer Sheba and on Tobruks deadly plains.' Where they
Lay low; and let those tanks, roll over them front and flanks'
Then arose to put to shame.their foe' These Men
Of the the flats..Of wheatfields and cane.' From harbours

ANZAC poem 2

..they were sent by those
who sat upon pedestals so high
whose life was sheltered and dry
and saw the new days bright shining light

and they were the ones...
who kept their hands fresh and clean
by sending others to do their evil bidding
in a another's land, a land far from home

no...they were not the ones
who saw

ANZAC poem

from the cities,
from the towns.
from the farms,
 and from all around.
they swarmed in their droves
to sign their names away
to a story that was golden.
to a story that was sold.

so it was said to them;
"you`ll be home in time to sit around the Christmas tree."
"don't be touched by the coward's hand."
"stand up and be a

under a Turkish sun

a boys own adventure has now begun
on a beach blazed under a Turkish sun
we`re here to take land from the evil Hun
and are told we are doing this for everyone

orders were given from the mother home
without question we followed this master plan
to the bitter end we do not stray or roam
for we have virtue, honor,

Anzac

ANZAC

Few among them knew the name Gallipolli
no crystal ball foretold the hell it spawned
but in the misty dawn of 25-04-15
the legend of the ANZACs would be born.

standing tall in khaki pride
he held his wife and newborn son
don’t worry love be back real soon
we’re gonna make them jerries run

the women waved tear

ANZAC in Australia

I was thinking of the last Dawn Service I took my mother to at the War Memorial on North Terrace, Adelaide…. Lest we Forget

ANZAC in Australia

A sparkling morning on dewy ground
A crowd of people gathering round
The dawn brings light to Damocles held on high
A military band playing drifting towards the sky

Relics of past battles displayed
A

A Mothers Love

ANZAC Day 25/4/ 2024

This is a true story dedicated to the missing and the families of the missing of soldiers from the wars Australia has been involved in.

A Mother’s Love

Perhaps it was the machine-gun’s infernal chatter
As it mowed down his mates like they didn’t matter
Or was it the sight of his mates blown to pieces
As

“Anzac Day, it happened this way”.

I remember her now, every Anzac Day,
a sacred day I cannot. celebrate.
She was his wife, only seventeen.
He was just 19, their lives had just begun,
 She jumped into his grave,

She kept screaming out his name,
She hugged his coffin and wouldn’t let go,
 They pulled

For my Grandfather, Australian 9th Light Horse.

He died
when I was just emerging
from the unremembered,
he left
with the sound
of muffled sobs
coming from
his room.

My Grandfather lived
in yellowed photographs
and the torn patches
of fabric souvenired
from a downed
Turkish biplane.
His sword
was too heavy
for a child to lift.

On each Anzac Day
I would open
a battered biscuit tin
to count his medals
and the

Across starboard bow the cliffs drew nearer,
into harm’s way mighty battalions drove -
men and mule upon cold waves of terror
stormed the beachhead landings on Anzac Cove.
Great southern blue, red and white standard stars
in battle hymn out of Commonwealth port,
where the flame of liberty fiercely chars
  in every free

Anzac Stories

We hear the stories quite clears
Of ANZACs and their families quite dear
As we will remember each one
And the deeds that cannot be undone

They march on into history now
Thousands marching in lines unbowed
For country and for fallen mates
As each no doubt contemplating their fate

What memories are left of them to find
There’s Longstaff’s Menin Gate at

Oh Garthy
Its Anzac Day
Again
That day
Which should be for
Old men
And best forgotten memories
Yet here we are
Thinking of you
And those members
Of that battalion

Oh Garthy
Its Anzac Day again
Another sad day
For those
That loved you
Miss you
A Facebook page
Doesn’t replace you
Or those members
Of that battalion

Oh Garthy
Its Anzac Day again
How mothers weep
And friends
Have troubled sleep
A commission
Won’t help those
Find peace in

Of Anzac Biscuits and Vegemite Sandwiches

It began as a day like any other,
In the oceans deepest depths,
Until a Kiwi and an Ausi,
Decided to have a picnic at the bottom of the Ocean,
In the deepest part of the Mariana Trench.

They arrived with both flags flying,
Inside the only submersible of its kind,
Nick named The Limiting Factor.

A toast to Sir Edmond

After Anzac

What did the Turks do at ANZAC
When the Diggers left not looking back
Did they wander through the trenches and dugouts
Wondering in the end what was it all about

Did they taste the treats left behind for them
And thanked their God that it did end
Was there whispering on the wind so clear
 By the Fallen Diggers

The Anzac Spirit

The Spirit soars above the earth
As silence now pervades its girth
Each battlefield has spat its hate
Broken earth and lives given up to hate

And the Spirit now collects their souls
Each gently taken as bugles roll
For those we loved have gone on now
As time and life passes as God allows

But the Spirit remains to guide
...
