Contest Description

What to Submit?  NEW RULE: Please see rule number 5

What to Submit?  A Christmas or New Years poem in Pleiades style. Please read the rules really well if you did not place as great as you wanted last time. I got a few poems that were very nice but had little or no mention of food. This time you may mention anything you want releated to the two holidays. If you were the few who did not win in my last contest for that reason, please re-enter your poem because I probably liked it.

      RULES:

  1. Enter a Christmas or New Years Pleiades. The title must be ONE word that relaes to the subject, and the subject must be related to either Christmas or the New Year celebration. Please do not try to combine two words into one unless it's a word that uses a hyphen!
  2. If you do not know this, Pleiades uses seven lines of six syllables. Each line begins with the first letter of the ONE word used as your title (therefore, you can’t use a title like Apple Cider.
  3. Good spelling and grammar count with me. Unless the poem is a knockout with everything else, those things done incorrectly could give an HM.
  4. Avoid old or achaic words if you want to do well with me. I had a few spelling mistakes in my last contest and I let them go. Maybe not this time around!
  5. Please use only Howmanysyllables.com. I do not always agree with Soup's syllable counter and this way we will be on the same page when I check counts.

All who follow the rules above will get a number placement. Thanks for your support of my last contest and I hope you enjoy my last contest of 2016!

Preparing Your Entry

Submit one copy of your poem online. Format your poem. Please make your entry easy to read — no illustrations or fancy fonts.

English Language

Poems should be in English. Poems translated from other languages are not eligible, unless you wrote both the original poem and the translation.
