Irish Summer

Summer

Racing down my window
Like friends through a forest
I gamble on the outcome
Of this meandering marathon
Raindrop X wins by a drop

River swollen with angry torrent
Sweeping all in its path
Out at sea the salmon tastes it
The need to move forward
And still it pours

Flooding in the News
As bad as recorded inches say
Houses built on flood plain
Make for good copy
Summer is over for another year
