I'Ll Never Know

Every night when I close my eyes to sleep
I wish somehow you'd been mine to keep
If only I'd had the courage to just say hello
But I suppose that's a life I'll never know

I saw you once leaned up against your van
Your face lit up while talking of your plans
Your smile was wide as you laughed out loud
Oh, how I yearned to be a part of your crowd

Girls adored you and to your side they'd leap
But I knew deep down I could never compete
They were pretty and popular, which I was not
And only in my dreams was it me you sought

Im sure you didn't realize my feelings for you
But I was painfully shy and that wouldn't do
It's not your fault that I couldn't confess
The words to you I longed to express

So every night when I close my eyes to sleep
I still wish somehow you'd been mine to keep
If only I'd had the courage to just say hello
But I suppose that's a life I'll never know

Sometimes we just cant express how we feel openly, as we fear what would be the reaction. Your love is so evident here and i love the lines“ So every night when I close my eyes to sleep I still wish somehow you'd been mine to keep” so touching and soulful! You’ve expressed with rhymes that flow so beautifully! Stunning poem really
