Safe Enough

The dawn breaks
The sun yawns
Rays of light fall
Upon the dew.

It sparkles
Trapping the light.
It fights to be free.
Others join and fall prey.

Twinkling like a rare gem.
It’s too much to contain.
Warmth rises.
The dew starts to fade.

Why must this cycle repeat?
My heart can only take so
Much.
It wants to be free again.

To feel.
To love.
To be light.
To be safe.

There is only so much light
To feed the love I yearn.
When will it be safe enough?
To not be trapped again.

Others shine brightly
In the dark of night.
I must freeze again
Waiting for the light.

It’s really not fair
Repeating these thoughts.
I did not deserve this.
I want to be enough.
