False Hope

A gravestone.
It says Sheila Ryan, died aged 59
A devoted mother

Here clinging to the hillside
Striving, for the solemn white cross at the top

Standing
quiet,
unmoving,
unsympathetic.

As soil creep carries the believer down the hill.

I agree with Ruben about the 4 word stanza being powerful. I also like the interesting perspective in the last line. Definitely gets the reader thinking. Thank you for your kind words on my poem. Have a nice day. Karen
