False Hope

A gravestone. It says Sheila Ryan, died aged 59 A devoted mother Here clinging to the hillside Striving, for the solemn white cross at the top Standing quiet, unmoving, unsympathetic. As soil creep carries the believer down the hill.

I agree with Ruben about the 4 word stanza being powerful. I also like the interesting perspective in the last line. Definitely gets the reader thinking. Thank you for your kind words on my poem. Have a nice day. Karen
