Never Relent

Have you ever aspired?
That you crave to acquire
Have you ever admired?
That it got you inspired
It only requires
A burning desire
Like the heat of fire
To achieve your greatest desire
Don’t ever retire
Adversity will surely conspire
To bend you like iron wire
Stay taut and never tire
Till you attain your one true desire.

Ode To Oliviera

As my eyes insinuate your unrivaled beauty
A tinge of glow ignites inside of me
I hanker to melt into your embrace
Your visage is the apotheosis of a masterpiece
Cleopatra is nothing compared to you
Your dulcet and riveting voice
Will surely blush a nightingale
Mere thought of you makes my heart leap
It tugs my heartstrings knowing that
Heaven lost an angel to me
Your beauty is timeless-timeless ad infinitum

World Weary

In the gloomy world of loneliness
My mind roamed like untended sheep
It must have taken a flight to Alaska
who cares where it goes anyway?
Life has given me a sour taste
It has adorned my soul with thorns
Making me a shadow of my former self
Amongst the boisterous crowd
I fell no better than a pariah
After a decade, I still long for the staff of life
The sun has refused to beam its light
I’ve resigned my fate to providence
Who has long chosen to forget that
I deserve comfort like my affluent compatriots

No Matter

No matter the case
That got you in a maze
Do not be fazed
You’ll see better days

No matter the haze
Staring you in the face
Don’t be in a daze
It’s all a phase.

Betrayal!!!

With a heavy heart, I kept my stare
Oblivious of the sun’s unpleasant glare
My eyes were misty. I was in a mare
I was once at the apogee of my artistic flair
Then, I did nothing than float on air
But now thoughts of you fill me with flare
The world did rate us a perfect pair
I was intoxicated and made you my heir
You said you cared but you weren’t fair
You did in all conscience leave me bare
Someday you’ll rue the day you fled to lair

Life

Life, a game
Not for the lame.
In Hitler’s reign,
He had an aim,
To make his name.
To get his fame,
He inflicted pain.
Bereft of aid,
Myriad became pale,
They continually ached,
For that brighter day,
Which later came.

Life is fun,
Not for a nun,
She neither tastes rum,
Nor visits a pub.

Life is a puzzle,
Could get you dazzled,
Endeavor to tussle,
Else you’ll be hustled.

Life is a race,
Keep up the pace,
With God’s grace,
You’ll get your ace.

Death's Unfailing Call

the world is filled with scenic creatures
it's scenery gives a magnificent picture
the most precious of all is man
man's original duty was to subdue the land
to embrace and appreciate the good work of the divine
due to the disobedience in the garden
man's journey through earth was made transient
the world is no permanent place for man

the world is filled with contrasting characters
some you've met never to meet again
some you've seen but I’ll never get to see
some will commence when my journey is over
some completed theirs before mine began
the world is no permanent place for man

the world is a beautiful home for all
if we were all extinct, the world will not exist
everyday in the world we never fail to find
the kind, the wicked and the evil
the elite, the noble and even the pauper
all with different aims, and looks but the same image
someday we'll all answer death's unfailing call
oh! the world is no permanent place for man
