Written In Blue Mercury

snow falls
as silently as sleep
pressed snowflakes
icicle flowers
between the wind and windowpane
melt their way to sill

polished chrome darkness shivers
ankle deep in frost
night’s breath spills
along the frozen glass
its silver shadow rolls
and condenses with the dawn

night’s epitaph
written in blue mercury
trickles down my windowpane
in the light of a new day

Star Light

she brings

the stars

to the night sky

she brings

the sun

to the day

without this light

we would live

in darkness

in darkness

we would live

in fear dismay

this makes us

appreciate

the light

the light

is love

in darkness

it allows us

to find our way

Learning To Fly

god muscles up

raw emotions bristle

neurons synapse and spark

she hesitates

learning to fly

the hair stands up

on the back of my

neck I shiver

remember to breath

learning to fly

her statue is as hard

as marble but she’s

as soft as vulerability

and so a woman

she’s learning to fly

with every day she

reinvents her future

she knows what she wants

she doesn’t hesitate

she’s learning to fly

Carnival of Light

with a wedge of glass

we split the rainbow

separate colors

into organized rows

of light

they stack

like dominoes

ready to topple

should we turn the lens

King Chrome

king chrome rolling

platinum tyrannosaurus

rex with your baby

teeth showing spaceship

bomber takes on all

comers metallic rhinoceros

slowly going down the street

like a silver baby tank

king chrome rolling

When Birds Watch Rain

platinum and grey

against the sky

it starts to rain

clouds silver linings break

birds tucked away in the trees

are quiet now

water gathers down paths

collected by gravity

intensity varies from

down pour

to steady

to trickle

these clouds

are in no hurry

and like variety

then suddenly a hole appears in the clouds

the sun shines through while it rains

like liquid sunshine

birds peek out from within the trees

and excitedly tweet

secure in their knowledge

that somewhere there is a rainbow

Decisiveness

as stark as the sun
in a blue sky without clouds
so raw our thoughts
when we are honest

so brave
so fearless
our thoughts
when we finally
decide to decide

we can run
as reckless as the wind
that breaks the ocean's waves

Generations

time passes

in a way where

we don’t see blood

pass from generation

to generation

too slow to be seen

by the human eye

the same blood runs

through different veins

with age and over time

it is only when we

observe generations

together in a mirror

spanning these years

can we detect its flow

Warrior Night

it was the warrior

summer and she was tied

to the bed

per her instruction

good night

night night nighty

good God

good God almighty

the view of her was

going to my head

cinch me up boy

I don’t want no escapin’

if you do this right when

I beg for mercy

while you're video tapin’

stream it live on Facebook

it will be pulled as soon

as soon as they review

I don’t care

I want the world to see

what I want you

to do to me

show me what’s wrong

show me what’s right

make love to me

on this warrior night

Sunset Heart

some nights
the stars
seem so close
they all seem
within reach
in the morning
pieces of your
heart wash up
up on the beach

sometimes
an open heart
like an open sky
by the sunset
will get burned
to you my love
was a broken toy
that couldn't be
returned
