Els Worth Poem
I dreamed and schemed through all of my life,
On how to end this miserable strife.
You caused my life to be sheer terror,
But you were twisted, and that was your error.
You kept me bound in chains and rope,
While you and your man took trips on dope.
I suffered daily, the violence and pain,
But it was your life that was going down the drain.
Never once did I give up my only dream,
Although you were winning, or so it did seem.
Then along came my savior, an angel by my side,
He found where I was hiding, and he gave me a ride.
We watched you from his home, the one on wheels,
We watched as you were making all of those deals.
We watched you go back, looking for me,
We watched your luck run out; finding Bryn just wasn’t to be.
I had a vision in the dark of the night,
The darkness soon would become very bright.
I heard a loud noise, it sounded brash.
It was, in fact, a fiery crash.
You lived your life quite selfishly,
But I’d like to think you died for me.
I prophesized you would ‘Burn in Hell,’
And now that it’s done,
I am Free! I am Free!! I am Free!!!
And All Is Well!

Els Worth Poem
I am writing a novel, or biofiction, 'The Girl at the Rest Stop.' It's about a young girl who was abandoned, rescued by a man, and eventually adopted by the man and his wife. I use poems on the pages between chapters; the poems are pertinent to the chapter that follows.
When I First Saw You
By Els Worth
When I first saw you sitting there.
Under a big pile of tangled hair,
I didn’t quite know what to think,
But, oh my God, how you did stink.
You looked so sad and very lonely,
Even tho’ you were so comely.
You seemed afraid to talk to me,
But your pain was very easy to see.
When I looked into your eyes,
Therein I saw the fear that lies.
I know you wished that I be gone
But I’m sure you’ve been alone too long.
Although I stopped to take a break
I never thought a friend I’d make.
I wanted you to go with me,
To meet my wife down by the sea.

I Swear
by Els Worth
I swear when I’m mad,
I swear when I’m glad.
I swear when I’m angry,
And I’ll swear when I’m hungry.
I swear when I’m late,
I swear to be great.
I swear in sorrow,
And I’ll swear for tomorrow.
I swear on the road,
I swear under load.
I swear loud and clear,
And I’ll swear for a beer.
I swear when I weep,
I swear in my sleep
I swear when I’m brave
And I’ll probably swear
. . . in my grave.
I swear when I run,
I swear when it’s fun
I swear when I’m a winna’
Please stop swearing . . .
Brynna!

Els Worth Poem
The Egg’s Gonna’ Hatch (Revised)
The egg's gonna hatch, gonna bring in some light,
Keep it warm all day and into the night.
The cloud’s gonna break and make everything swell,
As a young chick's head pops out of the shell.
I woke up late, and that's just fine.
Cold 'n the morn and chilled by the time,
Oh, sunny day, whatcha gonna do for me?
Afternoon's past, and the sun's under the sea.

Els Worth Poem
I am writing a novel (or biofiction), 'The Girl at the Rest Stop.' It's about a young girl who was abandoned, rescued by a man, and eventually adopted by the man and his wife. I use poems on the pages between the 50+ chapters; each poem is pertinent to the chapter that follows. This is one of the poems.
I’ve put up with this horror for too many years,
And I can’t even count how many tears,
That I’ve had to shed,
Everyday, just trying to get ahead.
They left me on the highway,
To fend for myself my way,
But that seemed to be the break,
That I desperately needed,
And it was God’s words to me,
That I carefully heeded.
God said, “Don’t worry, my child,
Your savior is coming soon.
You will be in good hands,
In the late afternoon.”
God’s angel suddenly appeared,
And welcomed me into his life,
To get away from the devils,
And their miserable strife.
Friday the Thirteenth has been good to me,
And the light on the Fourteenth, is shining on thee,
It is you, my Savior, on a great white steed,
Sent from the heavens to do . . .
God’s wonderful deed.

Els Worth Poem
Another poem from my novel, 'The Girl at the Rest Stop.' The story is about a young girl who was abandoned, rescued by a man, (PJ) and eventually adopted by PJ and his wife. I use poems---pertinent to the following chapter---on the blank pages between chapters.
Palaver and the Hitch Hiker
by Els Worth
While traveling down the road today
You told me much aboutcha.
And I’m quickly learning I can’t
Live a day withoutcha.
You told me all about your life,
And how you got that grit.
You have such joy and humor,
Not to mention all that wit.
You’ve lived a life so rough and tough
I don’t know how you survive.
But it’s what you’ve 'not' said to me,
That caused me to surmise.
But when the sun is finally set,
We’ll go our separate ways,
My joy will turn to sorrow,
And my skies will turn to haze.
I know,My Friend, I’ll miss you,
And that's what we have to toast.
But when I tuck into my bed,
It’s your Palaver I’ll miss the most.
