The Grass Is Always Greener

The stares burn my skin, I fail to conform, becoming faded in the world. Only one choice: follow others or be forgotten, The ropes hold me back, forcing me to forget myself. I feel the pressure to categorize who I am, Labels controlling the way we act: Sexuality, gender, and friends, Without a choice I'll never be accepted. I choose to separate from the conformist ideology that constricts who I am. I choose to find the greener grass on the other side.

My Light Fades

I could hear the slow drip falling to the floor, A rhythm that followed the rain hitting the window; My feeling slowly restricted as my head hits the wall. The pile of bottles growing on the floor. I was with him that day, our tears forming into one puddle, He was the only one I felt really understood my pain. We were one entity after her death; She kept us both bright, Helping us see how the other side forms their lives. No one else really knew her and if they did, They didn't know how she saved me. Now I wonder if there really is a reason to stay here. My reason to live fading just like the memory of her did a month before.

Purpose

At the time of our birth, we know our exact purpose; We forget what that is moments later. Throughout our lives, we spend hours contemplating the possibilities, contemplating who we will be and how we will spend our days; Without knowing, we agonize over our reason to stay. If you're lucky, you remember your purpose early; Finding who you are within the first ten years of living, Most people still lost throughout their first twenty years. There are few who die never realizing their true meaning, Mental illness overtaking their being. Our purpose is our driving force in life, Whether we're trying to find it or fulfill it, We're always living because of our purpose.
