Our Future Benue

Our Benue our future
Our pride our Nation
Our dreams our hope
Our home our hut.

Our Benue our future
Our food basket of the nation
Our Benue from which we live
Our source from which our blood comes.

Our Benue our future
Our strength is our youths
Our generation rise for our future
Our sow our reap.

Our Benue our future
Our time to voice out with one voice
Our leaders our 'Benuelite'
Our pride cannot be of worthless effort.

Our Benue our future
Our striving our crawling
Our better Benue our better future
Our better Benue which is to come.

A Rain-Drought

There is light but darkness
It is cold but hot
Send down the rain
Because, it is wet but dusty.

It is sunrise but sunsets
It is winter but summer
Send down the rain
Because, it is damp but dry.

Clouds overshadow the sun
Darkness overwhelms the moon
Send down the rain
Because, it is low tide.

There is lamentation
People are wailing and weeping
Send down the rain
Because, no stone on another.

They sob but who condole
Men yell but who console
Send down the rain
Because, it is time to re-erect.

An Irony of Life

A man led me with his hand,
And my eyes were closed to see obviously,
Then I see far to the thick forests,
Bats were flying jubilantly in sequence,
They occupy the houses of men in cities.

A man led me with my hand in his armpit,
And my eyes were shut to see openly,
Then I see far to the dense cities,
Where men stir miserably in sequence,
As they occupy the houses of bats in forests.

A man steered me with his hand round my shoulders,
And my eyes were barred to see plainly,
The houses in the forest were erected with maggots,
The houses in the cities were built with diamond,
Then I asked why man could behave this way.

A man directed me by the distance of his voice,
And my eyes were opened to see invisibly,
Then I see far as the end of my nose,
The voice was around me asking,
Can you tell me the essence of life to man.

Tell me the irony of all what I see, I asked.
But the man and the voice disappeared.
What is the pride of a man?
Where is the affluence of man going to end?
I asked again.

I'M Nobody

If I had dominion over yesterday
I would've love to see it once again
But I'm powerless like war armed battalion
Captured by their enemy in the war front.
If I had control over tomorrow
I would've appreciate it today more
Before I seize to exist or I may,
Lost sight of beauty before it comes.
If I had ascendancy over today,
I would've caused it to become tomorrow
And see how beautiful it's colors will look like.
perhaps, how unfortunate it's appearance will be.
To the mover of the inmover I bow
The pontiff has reserved this to Himself
The world of technology is challenged
And a world richest cannot pay.

Confession

There is pressure in my innermost heart,
As the voice deep within points fingers on me,
That memories deluge my secret act,
For my heart is heavy, I must admit.

The trust had been abused
As the turpitude broke the wall of trust
That lit gloomy of the trust before my homily
For my heart is heavy, I must admit.

There is fog of doubt and I regret
As the guilt sunk me in the pool of shame
That, I have nothing to pretend
For my heart is heavy, I must admit.

The broken egotism cannot be amended,
As within out rain tears from the eyes of my heart,
That my empty apology cannot build the walls of confidence,
For my heart is heavy, I must admit.

Bury me in the grave of forgiveness,
As a dead man with other human race,
That, the face of the earth will forget about me,
For my heart is heavy, I must admit.

But my mouth speaks just a word
Bury me in the grave of forgiveness.

I Promise

T-here is every reason to live with people in harmony,
Y-our spirit, soul and body will have amity of mind;
O-bviously to maintain maximum relationship;
K-nowing fully well that you are dust;
O-nto dust you shall return one day, in
S-epucher with surrounded crypts;
U-nder the creator’s feet to autopsy your acts

A-ccept my apology, for today is my birthday.
O-h, be glad because I’m still alive to this day.
N-ever do I want to hurt and bruise friends on media.
D-on’t just feel or take my annoying rants serious,
O-pportunity is here to mirror out my shameless shame;
H-opping not to allow the sky grows dark in the hearts of friends;
E-liminating potholes that dent my image to cause depression;
M-aking people’s frown turns down their smiles into a unique style;
B-ecause birthday increases the number of years you lived on earth;
A-nd decreases the number of years you are to live on earth.

M-arch twelfth is a spectacular day, so I have to
O-ffer myself to friends about my deeds,
S-ince I’m nothing but a human with short comings;
E-rroneous and wrongs identified by friends,
S-hall not be repeated again for that I promise.

Because She Hates Me

I’m sold out for slavery
Because she hates me
She wouldn’t want to use the money
Because she hates me
On a tray she surreptitiously burnt it off with fire
Because she hates me
The ashes is to be thrown away to a distance
Because she hates me
A northward wind came and blew it on her body
And she hates me
She is hospitalized and had her skin removed
Because she hates me
She hates “why it could be me?”
Oh! Because she hates me.
