Victoria Lane Poem
She asked for five more minutes
but only stayed for three
her eyes are filled with sadness
for a world that cannot see
the pain within her heart
was paid with somber tears
dreams remaining distant
leaving only fears.
Thoughts crash through a war
destroying all who pass
afraid of what should happen
if we felt free to ask
the questions that lay silent
inside our lonesome hearts
when peace goes off to war
and never seems to last.
Yet still we cling to memories
of those who've met their end
and ask for many moments
that God cannot send.
