Mad As a Hatter

Alice in Wonderland
Was my favorite book as a kid
I used to pretend that I was Alice
Having tea with the Mad Hatter
And the March Hare
But now I pretend that I am the Mad Hatter
For my mind is unhinging itself
Breaking away from reality
Till I can no longer recall
What is real and what is a dream
My emotions often get the best of me
But I have learned to smother them
But sometimes like a pot on the stove
It boils over and out
And I can't contain it
My mind is and becomes a freight train
Ramming itself against my skull
At 8, 11, at 1 in the morning
It is constantly running
And it never stops
I can't tell anyone about this
They'll think I'm insane
But what can I say
My mind is my own Wonderland
And I am but just the Mad Hatter

Oh Come Ye Child

Oh come ye child
To the land of the fey
Where dragons roam
And fairies play
Where the music is
Both soft and wild
Oh come, oh come
Oh come ye child!

My Sweet Divine

Before I go
My sweet divine
And embark the forbidden hands of time
I shall ask of you one thing
As I stand before you
I see you crumble
Sweet liquid luck
Runs down your face
But to you it doesn't seem so lucky
You beg me to stay
And scream my name
And whisper sweet nothings
Why, oh why
Do you set my heart on fire
With words instead of flames
Promise me you'll remember
The day we first met
Your hair in a bun
And your smile so sweet
Like the earth of the Summer beneath

Go To Sleep

To the girl writing poetry at 2 am
Stop
You are beautiful
You're like the moon if the moon ever came down to earth
You are more precious than a single moon beam shining down through my open window
at night as I lay there wishing for sleep to come
tossing and turning trying to find the power button to turn off my restless mind
You
You are beautiful
Your mind is beautiful
And I know you write these poems because it is your way of bleeding
and these words that you bleed flow and ebb in way that makes me jealous
That makes me awe you
And in the morning I know
You'll feel refreshed and light
But dearie
Put the pencil down
Put the paper up
It is now 3 am
Go to sleep

One More Minute

Today was the day
The world stood still
Nothing moved
Nothing spoke
The only noise
Was the rain that fell
From misty windows
Of souls that have
Been shattered
One more minute
And it would've saved
Us a weeks worth of
Waiting
One more minute
And ashes would've
Already been scattered
And yet
One more minute
To think that thought
Through
Would have saved us All
And, As he leaves this world
He leaves ripples
In the waters of time
