Dahlia Tarver Poem
It bared its teeth
and growled its growl
and knocked over the vase.
I saw it!
I saw it!
It also pushed over the lamp!
Down crashed all
the plates!
It was a huge disgrace!
I saw it!
Yes, I saw it
smash all of the plates!
Then it trashed my room,
broke the vacuum,
and left without a trace.

Dahlia Tarver Poem
Feeding the ducklings
on a sunny day,
around me they swim
and play.
The shimmering water
is clear and cool
so I dip my feet
in the pool.
Around me
the ducklings swim,
around me
they play,
around me I beg them
to stay.
But the breadcrumbs
are gone,
so they must move on
and leave me
on the shore.

Dahlia Tarver Poem
I am the dust people kick to the curb,
they are known for always putting me down.
Each word hurts as much as fire, I burn.
I can't to remember days I didn't frown,
Until I do, my sadness drags me down.
There's a light at the end of the tunnel,
I can't see it: it's ark in the tunnel.
Hope just seems to slip right through my loose grip,
it's like my strength just goes through a funnel
and is turned into heartbreak and sadness.
