David Shaw Poem
Pay homage always to your Father
The one who made heaven and earth
And know that you belong to Him
You were lent to us at birth
Show respect to everyone you meet
Though not all will deserve it
Don’t levy judgment on your peers
Sometimes you must reserve it
Let love be the main driving force
When decisions you have to make
Be gracious with your words and deeds
It’s better to give than to take
Let people be happy to see you come
And sad to see you go
Be honest with the friends you make
If they’re special, let them know
Give your opinion when asked for it
Don’t force it on the crowd
Speak softly with a gentle tone
No need to be too loud
Dream dreams that no one else would dare
There is no one like you
Humbly enjoy your successes but
Enjoy your defeats too
Life is shorter than you think
Fill it with joy and laughter
And remember that as long as you live
I love you, my son and daughter

David Shaw Poem
I wake at dawn and look around
I see that all is right
The air is cool, the sun aglow
The colors all are bright
I talk to all the flowers
Calling each of them by name
They all are freshly woken
And I am much the same
I tell the birds my many plans
Just how I’ll pass the day
They all seem so polite
As they flit and fly away
I call to little creatures
Happily running all around
And though I try to do the same
My feet won’t leave the ground
A spirit lives within me
Seeking, longing to be free
I want to tour the earth afar
To smell, to hear, to see
Each morning I relive this fate
Each morning I forgot
That I am but a shady tree
And I’m rooted to this spot

David Shaw Poem
I am the person on the street
Hungry, dirty, matted hair;
No one offers any help,
No one even sees me there.
I am the child picked on in school,
Bullied, the butt of jokes all day;
No one to call themselves my friend,
No one with a kind word to say.
I am the neighbor living beside you
,Battered, beaten every night;
Screaming screams that go unheeded,
No one comes to save my plight.
I am the stranger in your church,
Not quite dressing up to par;
No one approaches with a smile,
No one brings an alabaster jar.
I am the cross around your neck,
Jewelry symbolizing love;
The love you deny your fellowman,
I watch and cry from up above.

David Shaw Poem
A thousand eyes observed as he
Battled the forces within;
The age old war of good and evil,
Between righteousness and sin;
Free will, the gift of God to man
The Power that charts our Fate;
The ability to forgive and love,
Or to harbor malice and hate;
One man now stood within the scale
Balanced evenly on the beams;
Inside, one voice speaks words of good,
The other, hatred screams“Kill him!"
"He had first wronged you and
Only this will ease the grudge;”
"Remember what the Lord has said,
Judge not lest ye be judged;”
Who will he heed?What will he do?
The darkness hides his face;
But slowly, as his hand goes down
We get a sense of Grace;
Hallelujah! Heard from up above,
The angels’ voices chorus;
Tomorrow will be other sins,
But tonight,Score one for Us.

David Shaw Poem
I cry
You cry
We cry together
I laugh
You laugh
At jokes so clever
My world
Your world
But not together
I love
You love
Not one another
I call
You call
There for each other
Through good
Through bad
And through whatever
My life
Your life
With each endeavor
Our souls are joined
We’re friends forever.
