For My Children

Pay homage always to your Father The one who made heaven and earth And know that you belong to Him You were lent to us at birth Show respect to everyone you meet Though not all will deserve it Don’t levy judgment on your peers Sometimes you must reserve it Let love be the main driving force When decisions you have to make Be gracious with your words and deeds It’s better to give than to take Let people be happy to see you come And sad to see you go Be honest with the friends you make If they’re special, let them know Give your opinion when asked for it Don’t force it on the crowd Speak softly with a gentle tone No need to be too loud Dream dreams that no one else would dare There is no one like you Humbly enjoy your successes but Enjoy your defeats too Life is shorter than you think Fill it with joy and laughter And remember that as long as you live I love you, my son and daughter
