It Started With a Smile

The smile fades away. The reasons behind it don't.
A face that once glowed, returns to its original state of indifference.
This a fine reminder of that which is often short lived - happiness.

We're in this place that only offers limited joy, limited happiness, limited life.
The things that give evidence of joy, happiness or life are few and far between.

We comfort ourselves by trying to find someone to make us happy. We seek to have our craving for attention satisfied.

We start to love because we want to, not because we have to.

I did, I do and I will forever.

To Love Or Not To Love

I like how you draw me towards you everytime I try to leave.

I love that we always go in circles when we once thought everything else revolved around you.

It's funny how we're always at your edges but never fall off.

It's crazy how your mood changes from negatively dark to amazingly light everyday.

It's beautiful how you display so many different sides of you and whenever I try to look away, you're there even above showing us that we're yours and you are ours.

It's this and everything else that we need not take for granted.

Remember When We Had Amnesia

Remember when Sickness wasn't there? Corruption was a myth? Racism a joke? Death nonexistent? Lies went unspoken? Sadness was an unreality? And Depression a Delusion?

We Forgot the time when black nor white was a Thing. When health was a Norm. When purity a Virtue. And life a Value. When we Knew Not of sin. And sought to speak Truth.
When every breathe of air had a Meaning.

When Happiness was a Right.

We all have Amnesia. And like it, there is a cure.

Why Settle

Oh you settler! Why'd you settle?
Why'd you settle for less? Why'd you settle for distress? Why settle for emptiness? Or unhappiness?

Oughtn't we to be Nomads? To search, no, strive? To strive for that which is better. That which we know is best.

So why settle?

The 1 That Matters

You became my wife. I became your husband. And together, we became one."

One?

So marriage originally was 1 + 1 = 1.
Physicians discovered a force that drew two 1s together called Love.

Mathematians later found a way to add other variables to the equation and still give the final answer as 1. It's called the Infidelity Theorem.

Scientists found a way to split 1 and take it back to 1 and 1 in a process called Divorce.

Doctors fail to cure the disease that often leaves 1 by itself and takes the other 1, Death.

It all goes back to the 1. The 1 that loves the other 1; The 1 that hurts the other 1; the the 1 that has the other 1s; or the 1 that leaves the other 1.

In the end, Humans still have this crazy ability to experience something's and Betrayal is the worst something of them all. Hurt, is a close second.

A Settler's Reply

Fear. Fear, not just of the unknown, but of the known. That it won't be as it should. That things may change. That this unhappiness that I have settled for could be replaced by much worse.

I found emptiness and called it a home. I accepted this lowest level of pain and called it happiness. I allowed depression in and asked it to stay.

I guess I... I settled.

Forbidden Thoughts

"I'll look after the kids."
I will.

"You just stay there and die."
You should.

"We'll just stay here and wait."
We may.

"See you later."
You say.

"It's what's best for us all."
I hope.

Father's Day

Ever had a thing, but never felt like you had it.
Say a father? Say a family?
Or atleast the thing that everyone says is yours feels like it isn't.
Say a family? Say a father?
Or the things you think aren't yours are; and the the the things that are, aren't?
Say a family? Say a father?
