A Settler's Reply

Fear. Fear, not just of the unknown, but of the known. That it won't be as it should. That things may change. That this unhappiness that I have settled for could be replaced by much worse. I found emptiness and called it a home. I accepted this lowest level of pain and called it happiness. I allowed depression in and asked it to stay. I guess I... I settled.
