Funeral

A room full of silence, no one speaks
All you can hear are all these people weep
For the one that they lost and can never get back
For the one that they loved they all look so sad
And you always hear the same thing
That they're in a better place
And you can feel the strain of not letting it show on your face
That pain that you feel
It all seems surreal
When you see them laying in that casket down the isle
Everyone lining up in a single file
To get one last glimpse or one last touch
I guess that's what happens when they mean so much
All you can do is stand to the side
And hide away the tears because you have too much pride
But dont worry there are those that are near
Who also stand away and try not to show all their fears
They all hope and pray that they'll see them again
But we all have that question if that's really true in the end
We all have that comfort though, that we had from the start
No matter where that person goes
They'll always be in our heart

Broken

An uncomfortable silence when you walk into a room
Everyone looking at each other but looking away too soon
How can a deployment this easy be so hard?
How did we go from being friends to looking at each other from afar?
Everyone holds their tongue not wanting to be the first to speak
No one wants to be the first to look weak
How do we fix this?
Where do we go from here?
What is it that has us all frozen in fear?
Friends turning on friends in hopes to get ahead
Only later to regret what they did
But by then it's too late that bridge has been burned
People are forced through lessons they didn't think they'd learn
This brokenness lies on us and that's the truth at the end
Surrounded by strangers that were once friends

Mom

You are my guardian angel
Mom you helped pulled me through
During the toughest times of my life
Now its my turn to help you
I need you in my life mom for the many years to come
I need you to see me walk down the isle when I marry the man I love
I need you to talk to when he drives me mad
I need you to talk to when I'm feeling sad
I need you to rub my head whenever I come home
I need you to kiss me on the cheek whenever I have to go
I need you there to greet me when I leave this place
So I can see the smile I know I can bring to your beautiful face
You're the only mom I have left I don't want to lose you now
So know that I will always need you mom even if I'm not around

I love you Mom
