Will You Catch Me

If I should reach out, will you take my hand,
and hold me ‘til I reach that promised land?
Will you stay with me after tears have dried,
and close these lids the moment I have died?
Might you remain for just a moment more,
shall I but falter, tumbling to earth’s floor?

While curled up gently sobbing on this floor,
my friend, will you still stroke my weary hand,
meet my eyes’ gaze, convince me there is more
to living, loving - feet upon this land?
My soul embraced the darkness when it died
as wells once full had emptied, nearly dried.

Within these walls where fountains had run dry,
my love had left me trembling on the floor
with haunted mem’ries; left alone to die.
Yet as I tried to swathe these bleeding hands,
I hoped and prayed that I might safely land
where love abides, for I believed in more.

Such fortitude I trusted would bring more
to sate a thirst that left lips parched and dry;
for in my dreams, I soared across this land,
not stumbling, falling, ever on the floor.
To Him I cried, and reached with heart and hand,
“Please show me, teach me. Speak, before I die.”

Though heartache lingers, Love has never died,
for long, dark paths contain some light; what’s more,
I now believe He lends a sturdy hand
when hope has gone and springs have all but dried.
He finds us crawling, spent, upon the floor;
provides a map, helps navigate this land.

I must admit, inspired thoughts would land
upon this heart, but frightened, each had died.
My soul kept getting trampled to the floor…
each time I gave, each time they took some more.
No longer will tears drown before they’ve dried;
I reach out swiftly, firmly grasp His hand…

And I will land in strong arms ever more!
Despite death’s grasp, Love’s well will never dry,
And crawling floors oft guides us to His hand.

Flammable Soul

Raging fires roared, yet nothing could hold her back; she was born in flames... Sadly, that which helps forge vitality, indubitably, burns. Embers soon seek refuge in blanketed debris, praying to fade as apathy attempts to nurture injury. Mercy, I beg, draw near and peel back ashen veil; enable compassion, tenderness, and understanding to elicit tears of gratitude, for they are certain to ignite abandoned flames! Let passion's fire forever radiate deeply within this and every soul. May all come to know her warmth, be guided by her light, feel her rapture in righteous endeavors, and nevermore become singed nor devoured by her eternal blaze. PEACE, LOVE & JOY TO ALL 2020

Were You An Angel

Were you an angel or just my bright star?
To me, you were best, at least better by far…

Your beauty a beacon for lost, weary souls;
your smile an angel’s with heavenly glow;
your laughter a gift of surprise and delight,
His opus composed to erase dark from night.

Is it true you have gone; you have left us from here?
It is true I will miss you each day of the year.

When the Gift of Giving Has Gone

Have you longed to give your heart just for the sake of giving? Withheld for years, for pain and tears spark fear that steals from living a full, enriched, and glorious life where joy outweighs the sorrow ~ one in which one yearns to live, believing in tomorrow. And if you thought to finally give what’s ached to be set free, to make a change, jumpstart your heart, within a moment be everything you hoped for but could never quite conceive; then, once again, encountered thieves who lie, cheat, and deceive... Would you then quit, throw in the towel, no more to fight again; or hold on tight, steadfast, and strong and pray that love will win? Engaging in a battle as such may introduce defeat, but walk away and casualties will knock you off your feet. Consider this, if it is true that earth is heaven’s floor, then love should rule ~ a truth transcribed upon each person’s core. Could we succeed in loving self as much as we love others, we just might heal and bear the strength to stand aside our brothers. Then, we could all give from the heart with kindness and compassion for fear will lose all reasoning when love becomes the fashion.

A Wish, a Song, a Prayer

May you call to mind cherished lullaby, or prayer,
something tried and true, when it seems no one is there.
Sound and reason, oft times, circumvent the ear
when the shadows drown to expose our every fear.

May you memorize every word in heart and mind
with the melody and its time not far behind.
Soul may weep with tears if the spirit's well-aligned,
but this one-two punch is a plan of good design.

It makes silent that which torments, blinds our view;
stops us drinking from that toxic monster's brew;
chases misery with heartfelt plea anew ~
In the act, we call to arms His whole darn crew.

Let the song console you, mitigate your woes;
as you ruminate, let it soothe your weary soul.
Sing aloud or silently to tempo slow
as your earnest prayer clears a path to daybreak's glow.

Never judge, it's ours to do with as we please;
as we stand, we fall to frail and fragile knees.
Bumped and bruised, we long for modicum of ease,
yet such sweet collapse finds us lost in stormy seas.

You've escaped the depths, you can do it once again,
and again, my friend, if you must. Do not give in.
You are stronger than you ever could conceive.
When you have a choice, choose hope. Always believe.

Just Do It

How might you feel if you chose life that strayed away from discontent? I wonder, would you smile awhile or hatch new schemes to circumvent? Do you believe we have the choice to “live!” despite our circumstance, and love our lives through thick and thin; even in our sadness, choose to dance? Would you deem it possible to find sweet blessing through the pain; conceive that with our every breath, we may find hope to thrive again? Might you choose a path that suits you better than the one before; consider change; rearrange one piece to open unseen doors? Could you imagine, would you imagine just for laughs or on a dare; can you picture everything within your grasp? Pull up a chair!! Now, listen up, and listen good ~ This life awaits; it calls for you! Now grab it with those filthy paws, and show us all that you can do! Go for it !!
*Slightly edited since posting... an old piece that really needed it. Thank you for your patience :)

Angel Apology

Were you the angel who held on tight
through my darkest hours ‘til the new day’s rise?
Did you tuck me in, memories erase,
‘til I drifted off, comfortably embraced?

And the song I heard at the edge of night ~
was it yours that helped me to greet sunlight?
I remember how each day felt brand new
waking up with joy, opening eyes to you.

I relinquished peace, sacrificed too much ~
I, with concrete needs, longed for you to touch,
so I, selfishly, tried to turn and run,
but have missed you every day since then.

Spiraling Reflections

"If someone listens, or stretches out a hand, or whispers a word of encouragement, or attempts to understand a lonely person, extraordinary things begin to happen." ~Loretta Girzartis
---------------------- reminiscing reasons ruminating rhyme pondering reality recalling thoughts sublime never-ending pain unremitting sorrow evoking one recurring theme a farewell to tomorrow exhausted from the hunger disabled by the thirst consumed by each and every loss will ‘better’ make things worse thoughts embracing 'freedom' dissipating pain awaiting the tranquility after so much rain ----------------------
"I have learned now that while those who speak about one's miseries usually hurt, those who keep silence hurt more." ~C. S. Lewis
"Burden" (Lyrics) Let me carry your burden If something’s not right I will let you know Like the paint that’s drying on a heart that’s broke Let me carry your burden Get you back on a high when you’re feeling low When the weight’s too heavy but you won’t let go Come to me my brother and I will sit with you awhile Pretty soon I’ll see you smile And you know you will No matter how much you're hurting right now You know that everything will change in time So let me carry your burden Let me carry your burden When your might’s on fire but your mind is cold And you’re fanning flames that won’t keep you warm Come to me my brother and I will sit with you awhile Pretty soon I’ll see you smile And you know you will No matter how much you're hurting right now You know that everything will change in time Let me carry your burden, O brother mine Let me carry your burden Come tomorrow you’ll be right as rain It’ll quench your fire Wash away your stains Come to me my brother and I will sit with you awhile Pretty soon I’ll see you smile And you know you will No matter how much you're hurting right now You know that everything will change in time Oh I just might see it in another light Got no dog here in the fight I could carry your burden O brother mine Songwriter: Foy Vance
