My Life, My Choice

As I sit here all alone, nothing on t.v. and nobody on
the phone.

As crazy as it may sound, my heartbeat is the only
noise around.

While living here in town, I should just enjoy the
peace. I often hear in the distance, the sirens of police.

One man down, the other takes flight. This is the ruins
of another senseless fight.

A child loses a father, a mother loses a son, all to a
coward who chose to use a gun.

A void in their hearts no one can fill. Only in time, their
pain will heal.

As this coward sits to unwind, he's haunted by his past. It's
fresh in his mind.

As he ponders on the choice he has made, this is one
memory that will never fade.

All he could think of was his family and what he's done. His
child loses a father, his mother loses a son...All behind his
choice to use a gun

At 200 Mph, You Have No Friends

I grew up at a very fast pace and I wasn't slowing down for
anybody.

As a child, I was tired of being told by the adults what I could
and couldn't do.

I was the child, yet they were having all the fun. I wanted to
have fun too, so I did what they did.

I was smoking cigarettes and having sex at eleven. Started
drinking and smoking weed at twelve.

I was a single mother at sixteen, married at seventeen and
wanting a divorce at eighteen. I buried my third child at twenty.

By this time in my life, being an adult didn't seem all that fun
anymore.

I am fortytwo now and can't erase none of the above. So if
you're reading this and still at a fairly young age...

Slow down. You're only a child for seventeen years and then
you will have the rest of your life to be an adult and do as you
please.

My Dear Mother

There is no other like my dear mother.

She was there when I laughed or cried. And she was there when my
infant son had died.

She was there if I was happy or sad. And still loved me whether I
was good or bad.

Now that she's gone, she has left her middle name for me to carry
on.

To me, it's just a simple reminder, that there is no other like my dear
mother.

Guns

Guns don't kill people, people do. I have lost a loved one
because of you.

I will hear no more footsteps coming down the hall, no more
fingerprints on my wall.

No more laughter, no more tears. No more memories in the
coming years.

How does it make you feel inside, not knowing if the person
you shot, has lived or died?

Whether you're in a gang, or you stand as one. You're not
that big without a gun.

What if I had went wild, and the gun I shot had wounded or
killed your child?

Our situations would be the same. Two individuals fighting a
never ending game.

The message here is very clear....

You shoot me, I shoot you...Guns don't kill people, people do.

Why Me

Why, oh why can't I get it right? I ask myself this question every day
and every night.

Some of us are different from the rest. Some of us have a fear of
success.

In our minds, we believe we try. But in reality, we're living a lie.

Someone once told me, trying is lying. You do it or you don't. I really
want to live life as i'm suppose to, but I fear that I won't.

I've had many problems from the start. It seems to me when I get my
shit together, my asshole falls apart.

I could fake it as I've done before. But as soon as I get through with
one problem, another opens the door.

Please help me Lord and show me what to do. I need you in my life,
Lord. I surrender to you.

Fathers

Some fathers are near and some are far. Some are here and
some are there. Look around, fathers are everywhere.

Some live here in town who just decide not to come around.

Some fathers are special. We call them dads. They are the
ones who teach us right from wrong, to stand for what we believe
in and to stay strong.

Whoever your father may be, mine is very special to me.

Relationships

For any relationship; it takes two.
For any relationship; it takes me and you.
For any relationship to be a success,
It calls for both of us to do our best.
Do not treat it like a convenience store toy.
As we both have needs, whether you're a girl or a boy.
If one puts into the relationship more than the other,
The relationship is doomed, you'd be better off finding another.
A relationship is a two-way street,
And can be built with anyone you meet.
Relationships aren't built on love and trust alone...
There is a lot of give and take...
But if you're not careful, it could turn out to be a big mistake...

One of the Same

I am not an alcoholic. I am one of the very few who can drink only one.
However...
I am an addict. I like to smoke. Never in a million years, could I ever take just one toke.
Much like alcoholism, addiction is a sickness one cannot see. It is a killer that lives inside of me.
It craves the poison dope has within, and pulls me down lower than I have ever been.
Like a constrictor, it holds me tight. All night long, till the morning light.
Putting down the pipe can be easy as long as I'm ready, willing and able. And with love and support from the alcoholics around this table.
As I sit here with GOD on my side, I can learn to be teachable if my ears and my mind are open wide.
Whether it be N.A. or A.A., you can find me there...
I thank you for listening and allowing me to share.

The Word As I Understand It

It is already written. The Bible tells me so.
GOD has crossed our paths for a reason. A reason we may never know.
HE makes no mistakes. Not even one.
To thy own will, let HIS be done.
Accepting of HIS will, you will find the key. To a life of love, peace and serenity.
It is to HIM, I give all praise; and allow HIM to lead me and guide me for the rest of my days.
