Life Reloaded

Life is like a long journey along the sea’s shore,
Where you sometimes face a heavy downpour and more;
Here there are opportunities aplenty each with its own door,
Only by opening which you will know what’s in store.

Life is a warm and secure feel like the elusive slippery eel,
The nonstop movement of a spinning wheel,
The lingering aftertaste of a fulfilling meal;
Here complete surrender can also help the human heal.

Life is like a game of chess which at times leaves no room for a guess:
One false step and you may land into an awful mess ;
Where you have to keep your head above the flood of daily stress;
The excitement akin to going to the party wearing your favourite dress.

Life is a song, life is a dance, it is a magnificent trance;
A gambler’s den where you have to take your chance;
Life is the joy of a long lost and cherished friend’s glance;
A memorable and enjoyable trip to France!

For certain life is no pest, life is an unending quest,
Wherein we are put to the test along with the best and the rest;
Let’s try scoring in it with great zest,
And make sure to with the bounty fill life’s treasure chest.

Water the Element of Creation

Water covers three quarters of the earth,
And provides for life that's diverse,
It is an absolute requisite for life,
And it's precipitation as rain,
Is what keeps this planet sane.
Without its hydration,
All living beings energy is drained.

There are very few substances
that can hold water
and are impermeable to its flow.
Every seed you sow
Needs water to grow.

The earth emits her precious minerals,
In the form of crystallization.
On a dry day
Water can invigorate a distressed brain.

Water the all-weather weaver of life,
Witnessing wonderful life flourishing.
Water running down the hills as a river,
Ensures green bounty on it banks,
While meandering through the valleys and plains,
And bestowing life even to the humble grains.

Looking Back At the Footprints In Time

As hour piled on hour and day on day,
Several years drove past as decades.
Past now etched in the sand dunes of time,
Displaced by the winds of a bygone era.

Sweet memories fondly remembered;
Several dreams now lived in reality.
Belief systems formed and strengthened:
Habits that hung on through these hours.

Relationships strengthened over time,
Acquaintances who are but strangers today.
Events that have been reinterpreted,
Worries that have now receded.

Priorities that have shifted;
Goals that have been reached enroute.
Wisdom that has been gained through failures,
Self awareness that has ensued.

Time that great leveller,
Who favours no one as friend or foe.
You are asked to take responsibility,
Judiciously exercising free will to grow.

Gratitude

I looked around and saw if there was a reason to be happy,
For it looked like my life was getting sloppy and choppy;
But when I started to count my blessings one by one,
Life had been generous and provided for me by the ton.

From that most heavenly hour - the crack of dawn,
Where the night gives way to a brand new day,
The leaves and the plants wrapped in a misty dew,
Rekindling in my heart the passion for life all anew.

The sun strolling out from his home in the sky,
Sound of the chirping birds as they rise and fly,
The smell of the earth after the rain at night,
That's enough to transport my thoughts to a fantasy flight.

In my horizon I saw that great majestic tree -
Which rose above all around it to proclaim that it was free.
The flutter of the butterfly from flower to flower,
With those beautiful bright colours bewitching every eye.

Those unknown strangers whom I meet everyday,
Whose smile instills confidence that I will conquer today.
My near ones who love me unconditionally every single day;
Toil of the unknown hands that ensures food on my tray.

The moon shining in the clear sky of the night,
Stars sending forth their distinctive streak of light.
I thank the Creator for today's wonderful sights,
And deep in my heart I know that things will turn out just alright.

A Smile

A sweet, simple heartwarming smile,
Without any false intentions or guile,
Is like a charm that can disarm
Almost any human in a little while.

In the most difficult of times,
Or the harshest of climes,
A warm smile can turn the tide,
And restore the courage deep inside.

A smile is like a switch,
That can be powered on at will,
And make you feel emotionally rich,
Even if you are on a shaky pitch.

The smile is the body reassuring the mind,
Through bio feedback that all is fine,
And it's time to unwind,
From the harsh horrible daily grind,
Rejoicing at the wonderful moments of life that are mined.

Procrastination

I will do it tomorrow,
For I am in no mood;
Would rather prefer to brood.
Who wants to act,
Avoiding work needs tact;
But time doesn't adhere to the pact,
I end up being screwed,
For holding a view that was skewed.

Life's Doors To Opportunities

Just when everything seemed like a big farce,
Sapped of energy, in the morning I woke up bruised with scars,
And in broad daylight I began seeing stars,
Feeling hopeless, helpless and lost.

When things were at their lowest ebb,
And I felt I was trapped in a spider's web,
Something deep inside began to churn,
And I hoped and prayed that things would turn.

I realized that the world was vast,
And I had given up way too fast,
Assumed that there was just this one door,
And with it closed, nothingness was in store.

I wept that night before I slept,
Awoke in the morning to greet the world,
Deciding to look at things anew,
With a different perspective held in view.

It took a few days for the change,
With new doors opening slightly ajar, I grabbed a toehold wherever I could,
A few months later things did not seem bad,
For my toeholds ensured new wide open doors where I previously thought none existed.

The Happiness of Life

Lazily gazing at the star studded night sky,
Letting go off all the emotions that rise,
Feeling one with the warmth of the universe,
Engulfed and swallowed by the happiness rising within.

A dip in the cold water of the lake,
Causing an endearing numbness throughout,
Freezing the mind in its tracks from wandering,
The coldness causing an inner warmth and glow.

The soft music invigorating a tired mind,
The eerie feeling of the music hugging and kissing,
And magically energizing the body and soul;
Bringing out the sublime treasures of life.

Drowning In the Ocean of Thoughts

Stuck in the mental muck of my own thoughts.
Lost in the maze of my mind in a daze,
Things around appearing as in a haze.
The quicksand pulling me further in with every struggle.
Eventually becoming a vassal of my own thoughts,
Paradoxical for if the thoughts are mine,
Shouldn't I really be the chief?
