Heart To Heart

When I sat down to write this poem, I didn't know what to say.
Because you and I were never close, it just didn't work that way.

When I was growing up, I often wondered why you weren't there.
You never came that Christmas, I didn't think that was fair.

Regardless, I was still so happy when dad said we were going to see you.
I greeted you with open arms, my brother and sister did too.

However I learned very quickly that parenting wasn't your fort ay.
I guess it's not for everyone, I've forgiven you by the way.

I just didn't understand then, what I understand right now.
I believe you wanted to mother us, you just really didn't know how.

And now that I'm a mother, with kids of my own;
I realize how hard it is, especially when your alone.

One of the last things you said to me, before God took you away;
was, 'I want to be there to dance on Mahalia's wedding day!'

I told you that you would be there, no matter what, I swear!
And the look that I saw in your eyes, let me know you really care.

I realize now that your my mom, the one that gave me life;
Losing you felt like I got stabbed in the heart with a knife.

I think about you often, sometimes i even feel you near.
And when I sing my kids the ice-cream song, its your voice I hear.

I know that your in Heaven, with Aunt Glore and Granny,
but today we are all together again, one big happy family.

So heres my tribute to you, every word is from my heart.
I love you and I miss you..... There, I said my part!

Angels Among Us

There are angels among us, or so I've heard.
Now I know the thought sounds absurd.

I didn't  believe it when I was first told;
I figured angels have wings, bright and bold.

But then something happened; I was touched by one.
Actually two, my daughter and son.

Angels are gifts, sent from above;
They give you hope and inspiration, but most of all love.

They give you determination and strength, to keep moving on.
Even when everything in life keeps going wrong.

There are angels among us, but don't believe me;
just take a look around you, they're not hard to see.

They may not have wings or a halo in sight;
but their smile can make a dark room bright.

They may be small , and unaware of their power.
They may not know they pulled you through your darkest hour.

Their minds are simple, their hearts are pure!
there are angels among us and they will always be here!!!!

Sometimes

Sometimes I want to give up, and just lay here and die.
Sometimes the pain is just too much ,and I brake down and cry .

Sometimes I fall to my knees, and look up to the sky.
Sometimes I beg God, 'Please tell me why!'

Sometimes I wonder if I'll make it through the rain.
Sometimes I don't think its worth all the struggle and pain.

Sometimes I think I've just gone insane!
Sometimes I can't help but use the Lord's name in vain.

Sometimes I lose faith, and everything gets cold.
Sometimes the weight on my shoulders gets so hard to hold!

Sometimes this life of drama gets so old.
Sometimes I don't think I can carry this load.

But then I open the paper, or look at the news;
and I realize that everyone pays their dues.

Theres pain all over the world, way worse than mine!
People overcome amazing obstacles, it just takes time.

I have to keep faith, that theres light at the end of the tunnel.
The reward is relief, that comes after the struggle.

So I pick up my head and I thank God above,
and I know He smiles down on me, and says,"My child, pain is love!"

So whenever I get down, I'll read over these rhymes,
and I'll remember that I only feel this way.........SOMETIMES!!!
