A Better World

Soaring into the blue skies, look down
The grey myriad of life's endless mysteries
Dreams lost in a sea of deceit
Seeds of doubt sown, look around
It's too late, there's no saving grace here

A new world, let's build today, now
Scribbled notes, capricious thoughts
A box of crayons and rekindled hopes

A world where you and I can tell the difference
Between forgiving smiles and constant fears
Stubborn pretence and true acceptance
And where the colours are infinite and beyond

A closet of cold disguises and fickle masks is no closet of ours
Let's make way for happier surprises then
And bring that smile back on your face

Dark Perceptions

As misty glows engulf the evening sky
An awkward silence takes flight
From those fleeting moments of joy
You see tricks that deceive, tricks of sleight

The lights are bright and they're screaming aloud
Forget your thoughts, they can wait it out
Pieces of the jigsaw that won't fit
That's the puzzle, that cloud of doubt

Fantasies, fairytales and those alike
All under the spells of a starry sky
Forgetful and impulsive, blessed carefree
For all you see are tears, but they see tears of joy

Sleeplessly you embrace a hopeful wonder
Searching for patterns where there are none
What's constant isn't change, it's in the mirror
It's the dead of the night, and there's nowhere to run

Stay

Straddled between two worlds, undecided
He sat there lost, a septic soul
Dwindling handshakes and false beginnings
Maybe you ought to shut the door, it's getting cold

Craven and crass, take that rite of passage
No rights here, only room for bigger mistakes
Wherefore the reasons, he chased them all
An eerie space this was, where even shadows forsake

Peaceful somnolence is a false dawn
Ask the bright blue lights that glow so smug
Bruised egos and musty conversations
This celebration of obsession, the new miracle drug

Dive into the deepest fears of your hopes
A labyrinth of dreams beckon
Drowning sounds and rippling images
And you're lost in oblivion

The carnival of chaos, open to all
Such a happy place but not anymore
He ponders for a second, looks around
I can't stay here. It's time to go

The Infinite Bubble

A spent mind, drowning in a pool of detest
Plunging to the depths of no return and a future uncertain
The decaying end of a darkness consumed, until the light comes streaming in

The ambassadors of hope incessant, knock on the familiar doors of perception
Echoes of a distant past come willowing in, greeting the grim voices within
The grey mundane calls to close them, the deceitful can try again
But wait, a gleam of green and pink in the distance, oh weary eyes are you mistaken?

Look at those fields of infinite ambition, and above those tapestries of salvation
Take a step, the chains loosen, maybe the encumbered have forgiven
Despair fades, a new dawn beckons
Let this not be one of those dreams

The Grey Disguise

I see smoke billowing out from the horizon
The grey strokes swirling and twisting into the tangerine sky
The painted canvas appears to deceive
Dark silhouettes loom large, the end draws nigh

I see distant hopes choke on the toxic
The clouds drift away, in search of tranquil
Such a meek surrender to the hostile
No, there is no grace in this goodwill

I see dark malice embrace the unsullied
The salvation that once set you free
Chains you to the dungeons of your sycophantic soul
I see the slow poison consume, and I don't like what I see
