You Can'T Do Anything Right

"You can't do anything right"
This is the message people showed toward me
when I was growing up
"Why bother if you can't do it?"
"Don't dance with us if you don't know how to"
So I'm the one who sits by herself because
"I can't do anything right"
"Don't touch that if you don't know
what you are doing"
"Why talk if no one will listen to you?"
So I'm the one who doesn't bother trying because
"I don't have a voice"
Still to this day I could be in a crowd, let alone
with friends, and no one would hear me
So I'm the girl, the woman, the wife, the mother,
the HUMAN being that "can't do anything right & has no voice"
But that's OK
I'm still here
I did something right

See

Thank you for
hurting me
For now
I can see

Dear Child

You came into this world
And upon your little face
Bestow the glow
Of beauty and grace
Let your thunder be heard
When the time is right
People will follow
As you shine your light
God bless you dear child
May you grow without dismay
And God will guide you
As you journey on your way

Blinding Rain

something about the rain
against the window pane
now blurred vision

Please Understand

Please understand
just one thing
I mean you
no harm
Above all things
I'm telling you
I hope you're not
alarmed
For this time
has come
For both of us
to part ways
I hold a special place for you
Deep within my heart
So don't you worry now dear
Because I leave with nothing but praise

If You Care

If you care
Nothing changes
When God takes
you for a walk
The fallen stay
on the battlefield
Then a stranger
holds your hand
And says "If you
want peace, prepare
for war"
Behind the curtain
Final moments
& a fatal goodbye

Secret Admirer

The way I feel about you
may only be a dream
You've been in my thoughts
and prayers
And yet you've only
spoke few words to me
I've been afraid most
of my life
And the thought of you
keeps me from falling
I may have never crossed
your mind and maybe
it wasn't meant to be
But I will keep moving forward
Then maybe my dream may come true
I will take that chance
and hopefully you will too

Little Leaf

Little leaf falling from the tree
I watch you fly away free
Little yellow apple you caught my eye
You will make a great apple pie!
Tiny seeds to plant in the ground
Hopefully some day you will be tall & round
Look at the apple blossoms so pretty as can be!
A beautiful flower for all to see

For Mom

For mom who gave birth to me
Thank you
For mom who picked me up when I fell
Thank you
For mom who made me smile through all the tears
Thank you
For mom who was strong when I was weak
Thank you
For mom who cared when everyone else didn't
Thank you
For mom who believes in their child
Thank you

Thank you mom

(This was actually written on mother's day 2013)

I Am

I've been there, that road
which leads us all in a direction
we don't want to go.
We all hear it,
 feel it,
taste it,
judge it,
and learn from it.
Anger,
pain,
happiness,
sadness
And yet we still thrive
on the things we are not meant for
I am one person,
but yet it doesn’t stop
anyone from doing harm
They don’t realize
that one person can’t take any more
No more pain,
no more agony
Don’t tell me to do this or that
I remember the things you tell me
and things you make me do
Then is then
and now is now
I am one
And I am
