Hidden Scars

Honey, I saw it yesterday,
your heart covered in scars.
And all the secrets that you kept,
in those tightly shut jars.

I heard you take a deep breath in,
and then you turned and smiled.
But I knew it wasn't real,
it didn't reach your eyes.

I don't see marks on your wrist,
I don't hear you cry.
I don't need to see your torn wings,
to know that you can't fly.

I can see it in the way you've lost,
the jubilant skip in your walk.
And in the way that you don't
gesture animatedly when you talk.

I hear you go around,
and say that you are fin.
Honey, telling how you really feel,
isn a crime.

Tell me what went wrong,
what made you so detatched from life?
What twisted inside you,
was it your own knife?

I want to tell you,
that it's okay.
Whatever happened,
will soon go away.

But I watch you from a distance,
I see you sink, I see you start.
I wish you could hear my unspoken words,
that would help you heal your heart.

With Christmas

With Christmas
Comes the soft snow
The roasted chestnut
The starry glow
In the eyes
Of the ones who are loved

With Christmas
Comes the mistletoe
The soft pink lips
The Cupid's bow
That melts into
The souls of the lovers

With Christmas
Comes the sound of love
The sound underground
The sound above
Which jingles ever so lightly
And which I am deaf to

With Christmas
Comes the memory of you
Your light red nose
The faded pink hue
On your upper cheeks
From walking in the cold

With Christmas
Returns the ghost of time
When you said you had to leave
And I said it was fine
But really I was hiding
What I was feeling inside

Couldn't you tell that I wasn't fine?

Dear Heart

It's a hard choice
And it's so goddamned unfair
That I can't choose both
I'm trying to take the road
That I think I should take
I don't know which road I want
My mind is on fire
But my heart has gone numb
It needs some time
To figure out what it wants
But time doesn't stop for anyone
And it certainly won't stop for me
Dear heart,
Please decide what it is that u desire
So that I can make a turn
Or just ride along
the destinations are different
One better than the other
But in the end
It's not the destination
But how you get there that matters

The Real Grief

Hearts are swollen,
Tears are a constant flow.
People are morning,
But it’s all just for show.

Clad in black,
I sit on the last aisle.
A veil covers my face,
My eyes are quiet.

I’ll say a few words,
Just so they know I care.
But I know that you know,
Because I was always there.

A labyrinth of emotions,
Has engulfed me so deep.
The unshed tears,
Slowly piling up in a heap.

Agony, anger, angst,
Stifle my mind.
A tranquil place,
Is getting harder to find.

It makes me incensed,
To see them cry.
They didn’t know you,
How could they, when they didn’t try?

And yet they are here,
Saying that they loved you,
But I sit quiet,
Because I still do.
