The Last Gift

The scent of crispy sizzling bacon filled my nose,
warm sweet pancakes being made in the kitchen.
I walked down the stairs,
my heart filled with joy as I saw the presents under the tree.
Big and small boxes,
all different sizes wrapped in colorful wrapping paper.
We spent all day long opening gifts,
but apart of me was upset I didn't get the one thing I asked for.
I laid down on the couch,
my dog sniffing away under the tree, yapping.
I went to see what he was looking at when I saw one last box.
A perfect little box in blue sparkly snowflake wrapping paper,
topped with a silver glistening bow.
I looked to see who it was for,
my eyes filled with tears when Santa saved the last gift for me.

New Year's Resolution

I wish for happiness,
I wish to spread cheer to all,
I wish to succeed.

The 30's

Pearls, diamonds, red lipstick,
curled hair tucked into a barrette,
short and bouncy full of life.
Flappers stand outside the room,
holding cigarettes up to their lips.
A man is inside clicking away on his typewriter.
A gold earring is lying on his desk from the night before,
he holds it up and tosses it backwards.
An expired plane ticket lies on his desk.
She never showed up,
he stood there all alone.
He wonders why he is typing her a letter.
Loneliness consumes his ache for his love.
A flapper walks in,
takes off his hat and sets it aside.
Will he give in once again?

Whispers of Your Soul

Sitting staring at the wall,
I wonder if I deserve it all.
Loud voices fill the house,
but I sit there as quiet as a mouse.
My heart whispers to keep going,
but my minds thoughts just keep flowing.
The power of silence will have you thinking,
and your heart will begin sinking.
But somehow you know you're worth it,
the silence reassures you of your wit.
The world is screaming and yelling loud and clear,
but my soul is telling me not to fear.

My Wish For You

You're my friend and I wish the best for you,
I hope you get all the presents you asked for this year.
I wish that you will get surprised with an xbox, and speakers,
also car floor mats.
Will your face light up with joy?
We will have to see!
I wish that you will have all of your wishes come true!

Roses

Burgundy red,
Peachy pink,
Sunny yellow,
Soft white.
The garden is full of a variety of flowers,
but the ones that I love the most,
are the delicate roses.
I gather a dozen and spread them all out.
Snip the ends, and fill the vase.
The beautiful roses remind me of innocence,
the gifts that grow form the earth.
