Joe Leon Poem
Testing the boundaries,
forgetting the past,
making repentance,
making it last.
From one to the next,
another and another,
pealing away,
from eachother.
Breaking, knotting,
trying to find,
the very last thing
that's always in the back of your mind.
racing, turning, falling, burning
through the ground,
buried alive,
dead but not dead,
pounding, no sound.
Do you have a wish?
are there regrets?
You still have time,
before you rest.
Don't close your eyes,
don't hold your breath,
don't wait for someone,
who isn't a threat.
Hold your heart,
and cover your ears,
you've got a chance,
face your fears!

Joe Leon Poem
Being someone is something we need,
By finding ourselves through some other mean,
constantly seeking opinions to approve,
Of all that we've done, and all that we do.
Bury away, and put on an act,
Make others love this person who lacks
Something they feel, and cannot be seen,
They cannot decipher a soul from a dream.
Lost to a thought that grows past control,
Lost in a maze with no one to know,
Who am I now, and who have I been?
Not true to myself, or those I called friends.
Today is a lifetime ahead of the past,
I realize with less, there's no shadow to cast,
Stripped of the layers that built all this pain,
I'm smaller and lighter and free from the chains.
