Down the Hill

Slither, slither, show the way, water moving faster still Never ever going backwards, only flowing down the hill Water flowing down a river passing over rocks and earth Slowly gliding to the ocean from the reservoir of birth Water’s Birth is at the peak and Water’s death is at the bottom Moving in and out of trouble, downhill pattern of a slalom Outside forces, changing states, Constant friction, changing forms Calling to a higher purpose, raining down above from storms Feed the planet, work as one, move together, just survive Advancement is the common goal that keeps the hopes and dreams alive Slither, slither, show the way, water moving faster still Never ever going backwards, only flowing down the hill Reach the peak, you never can, the peak is far away from man Birth, so warm, Death so cold, running from that icy hold Feel the tide and current strongly, never flowing off the path Mother Nature’s happiest when water executes her wrath Rivers, lakes, and streams all uniting and connected Looking from the outside everything that’s done is just reflected Pure and clear, until it’s tainted, untouched canvas, never painted Heading to an end, depending on direction, ending up united, one collaborative collection Slither, slither, show the way, water moving faster still Never ever going backwards, only flowing down the hill Forks and splits that force decisions sooner than they wish to choose Splitting up the current from who will win and who will lose The ending is the same, but the journey is what matters Filling up the empty space is where the water gathers Ever inching towards the finish to be united once again Circulating through a void that always comes back to the end The end is never permanent, there always is a second chance To make it’s way unto the earth and show the world it’s timeless dance Slither, slither, show the way, water moving faster still Never ever going backwards, only flowing down the hill

Aren'T We All

Visiting for a moment, but never too long
Captive to thoughts, especially when wrong
Finding our self, if only to be
Searching for light, if only to see
Quick to make promises, if only to break
Hoping for chances, if only to take
Wishing for fortune, if only to spend
Looking for the broken, if only to mend
Living our life, if only to end
Writing our message, if only to send
Saying our words, if only to speak
Judging our neighbor, if only to critique
Hearing our loved ones, if only to listen
Remembering their lives, if only to miss them
Speaking our minds, if only to be heard
Dreaming of flying, if only a bird
Planning our steps, if only to falter
Changing our mind, if only to alter
Guarding our memories, if only to forget
Counting our victories, if only to forfeit
Hiding our sorrows, if only to remember
Building more friendships, if only to dismember
Shouting in pain, if only to be loud
Working so hard, if only to be proud
Gathering our friends, if only to celebrate
Gaining more knowledge, if only to speculate
Sharing our feelings, if only to relate
Rushing our life, if only to wait
Pleading for longevity, if only to die
Asking more questions, if only to know why
Living immortally, if only to deny
Receiving our fate, if only to reply

Grave Revelations

The water, it takes me off of my chosen path
A place from where many men have never come back
The water, it’s rising now and I must not think twice
To leave what is material to save my own life
I cling to the vessel, which brought me here, tightly
To save what is left of myself and my psyche
My grip it does weaken as reality sets in
This might be the last time on Earth that I spend
All that has happened, or would have contrarily
Will be no longer if this fate it does bury me
Shortness of breath as the water creeps in
Debris hits my body, and hastens my end
Holding on to life with the strength that remains
Finding new ways to experience pain
I look to the past and I think of the future
The present is my captor, my love, my abuser
These moments are fleeting yet they are all that do matter
My mind it is tired, and my body it is tattered
I choose to let go and let the current decide
Whether I will live or whether I will die
I go towards my savior, the unmoving earth
To rest on the bosom that’s given me birth
The water does release me as I lie there ashore
To find that my former, is no longer, no more
Perspective is golden as it comes by so seldom
When people do ask, that is what I do tell them
Life cannot be loved until death is so certain
As an act can not be appreciated until after the curtain
To live like you’re dying is more than a suggestion
To do anything other is to deny, without question
Our fate is decided the moment that we are born
We decide how we reach it and how others will mourn
Take nothing for granted and appreciate time given
It’s not how much you have, it’s how you choose to spend it
