Breathe

I am trapped.
By these four walls of my room,
By this skin and bone.

Locked away
And suffocated
By the pressure in my head.

Sounds seem distorted,
Like a fish
In a bowl.

The quiet of my thoughts
Turned away
By ringing and chaos.

My anxious heart longs for
The comfort of silence
And to simply, breathe.

A Bend In the Road

I could see the bend in the road ahead and I could feel my stomach twisting with its presence. This would be my new beginning, my new home, and I was afraid of what this life change could bring me. As I began to get nearer my hands gripped the wheel tighter. I could feel my palms begin to sweat as I white-knuckled the wheel. I slowly pressed the brake as I entered the curve and I felt my whole body tense. Then I quickly accelerated, and in one swift motion I was through the curve and speeding down the road toward my new home. As I watched my surroundings change, I knew that bend in the road would be a joyous point for every time I came home.

The Librarian

The librarian walked a dusty road.
Heading for the rodeo.

Her glasses on
The tip of her nose
And her hair curled in a bun.

She finally took a seat,
Barely taking the heat.

But in the mix
Of all these things
She was called out to the ring.

She climbed up on
The electronic bull
Hoping she could bare
Gravities great pull.

The bull tossed her,
And slung her to the dirt.
And forced the librarian
Back to her books.

Lost In Time

For once, My emotion is simple and clear. Love, Companionship, Trust. I find you Walking the path to my heart. Tidying it up, Making it whole. Letting the light shine through my eyes. A mere touch between lips, Just think of the damage we could do. You’re like a poison, A poison that stops your heart While in steady beat and pace. Not desiring the future, but the present. The pleasure of being lost in time.

Inspired

When the dark clouds of a thunderstorm appear on the horizon I take a front row seat. I watch as the sky is being filled with black clouds that shimmer with lightning. A slow, deep rumble of thunder fills the air. The color of dark green tree tops pressed against a dark sky is a beautiful scene. A slow wind begins to blow, almost smearing the colors of the trees into the clouds. A sudden boom of thunder explodes from the sky. A warning of the rain to come. The rain begins to fall. At first it's only a mere sprinkle, but as the wind picks up it pours. Steam rises from the heated asphalt. The rain cools the earth, releasing the aroma of moist dirt. As the storm is coming to an end, I find myself inspired. I want to write.

A Blank Page

This is crazy. How lost I am. How unreal it all seems. But how calm I am becoming those words. What is my reality? Live, laugh, love...where are they? The delusions of my dreams taking over. Every ounce of my soul is connected. Tied to those words. Where are my words? My feelings. Life. A thick complicated sea of nothing. Darkness. The gloom hanging over my head. Always. The moisture drowning me. My worst fear. Where are my words? The magic in the spark. Happiness. Laughter. None to be found. It's unreal. A false reality. Love. The romance of my life. Where are my words? My heart has become a thick stone. Nothingness. A darkness. The kind you must be saved from. Nothing. A blank page. My life. Those empty words. They mean nothing to me...to you. Sitting in this place. This space meant for me. Is it? No. My words are coming now. Flowing into reality. Striking me. A mass of jumbled nothingness. How much more is left? Can I do this? "Endure it", he said. Those words, piercing like a jagged knife. From the false reality. It really means nothing. Honestly it's pointless. A dull blade. Pointless. Lost in her delusions. How to make everyone see those empty words? Nothingness. A blank page. Relief...

A Disguise For Poisoned Thorns

Lure me in with lust.
Tear me down in the end.
Don’t be so cliche,
It ruins a sterile heart.

I want no part in your demented world.
The roses you try to win me over with
Are a mere disguise for poisoned thorns.

Your thoughts are artless,
Yet each move you make
Is laced with lethal sin.

Lost In a Breeze

Is a smile so hard,
With salty tears
Pouring down pale cheeks?

Love lost in a breeze.
Twisting and turning,
Just out of reach.

Find me, oh love.
With fiery eyes
And arms outreached.

A path dispersed,
Like a puzzle
That's yet to be complete.

Where are you, oh love?
Wild and free.
Just like love,
Lost in a breeze.

Tomorrow

The front porch is lonely
As the June Bugs sing
Their sweet serenade.
The air is thick
With summer heat.
The sun is resting
Behind a thin layer of clouds,
Its outline barely shining through.
Nothing but calm.
And I can only hope
To greet the world with a smile
Tomorrow.

Leap of Faith

For every person,
For every personality,
There’s visual perfection.
You’ve spent a long time dreaming.
You are like a trend.
Find your way
In just one step:
Take a leap of faith.
