The Neighborhood That We Once Knew

Illegal business trafficling
boldly on the streets
in broad daylight
so everyone can see.

The addicts are searching
high, low and even on their elbows
wondering how they're going to get
their next "hit" of crack or blow.

While the hustlers are trying
to get rid of the "hot" merchandise
that they have stolen.

all have l can't help but to see
the "once" beautiful neighborhood
now invested with all types of rodens.

Why did we, the people,
let it get this way?
It's so dangerous that
it's unsafe even for the
children to play.

It used to be a community
with businesses/flowers in full bloom
but now you look around, you see
homes/buildings in an area invaded by gloom.

To make it better though
there's so much we all have got to do
because we all can agree that it's
a far cry from the neighborhood
that we once knew.

Rush of Love

Just when I was about
to give up on love,
it came into my life quickly
striking like a snake but as gentle
as a dove.

It opened in me passions
that I never felt before
leaving me totally confused
but yet yearning for more and more.

Why did love for me take so long?
This I guess I'll ner know
but now that its here finally,
I'll never let it go.

Forever I'll cherish it
hoping of it to never
ever give it up
always savoring the sweetness
from this sudden rush of love.

The Big Boyz

They tell me that
I'm not hip
because out of the bottle,
I don't want to take a sip.

Going out to get drunk
beyond recognition,
they’re like a car
and the liquor is their fuel for ignition.

How can they do this
when it makes them down?
They live by it and in it,
their thoughts are forever drowned.

They can continue to do it
knowing that it causes pain
and takes away their joy.

I now see them all slowly
withering away, hands/hearts
still clutching their bottles
because they're known as the big boyz.

In Search Of

In search of love,
I'll go out on a limb.
In search of friendship,
I'll search until time ends.

Where there's love
that's where I'll be wrapped
within its mystic clouds
of happiness so protectively.

True love and friendship
derives from deep within onself,
so once found,
gladly share it with someone else.

For all things are given freely
from the heavenly father above
remember this as you go along
your journey for whatever you
are in search of.

On Solid Ground

If we take it slow,
our love for one-another will grow.

We just have to be willing
to work together,being patient
and sincere from the beginning
eliminating all non-sense.

To be there always for each other
with a smile or a big hug and
finding ways to make each other
happy is what we'll both be thinking of.

We will declare to all about
the wonderful love that we
have both stumbled upon
and eventually found.

Forever it will last
and will not falter
because the love we will
have baby will be built on solid ground.
