Why

To everyone who knew me
I'm ready to fly
I'm ready to take off
And soar across the crisp white
earth
Hopefully you will find me
Hopefully you can understand
why.
Please scatter petals
Plucked fresh from a dark
Red rose
Across the new fallen snow
Let them catch in the wind
As my last breath escapes me
Leave the petals dead on the
earth
The bright red petals against
the cold white
Let them lay as they fall
For the world to see and remind
them
And if they say
When my eyes are closed
And I'm surrounded in red
velvet
Encased in wood
If they say I'm beautiful
Don't allow them.
Tell them no
Because I want them as well
To know
Why.

All That Is Left

Breath may escape me
Bodily strength evade me
All that will last
Is my soul.

Disguised

The rain pours down
Outside my window
I sit on the sill
Looking out at the road
My mood is cloudy
Along with the skies
I'm tired of living
Behind a disguise
I'm tired of living
All alone and sad
With sunshine on my face
And a storm inside
I need to be who I am
Not what I think I have to be
So I close my eyes and take off
my mask
And when I open my eyes
The clouds are gone
And sunlight streams in.

Beauty

Is beauty a perspective
Or is it selective
When suicide occurs
We all say 'society'
But maybe we need to look
deeper
Maybe it's our fault
And the desire to be wanted
Why does it matter
How thin your legs are
Or how pretty your face is
We say 'society killed her'
We are society.
It is or fault too
'Boys need to be muscular, girls
stick thin'
We call it the media
But look deep within
We just say 'them'
Never I did
Every girl's beautiful
Every guy's perfect
If we say society and media
What are we?
Judging or caring?
