The Wind

You are like the wind

Gently guiding me by while barefoot on a beach
No matter how far, I’m always within its reach

Pushing me through rough seas like a sail
With you mountains are nothing to scale

Like the wind comes great change
And all begins to rearrange

You force the snow to sting my face
Foot prints in the sand you erase

You slow me down
Mountains still all around

I wait for your storm to pass
With each half full glass

But behind every storm
Lies a sunrise to keep me warm

In that light I shall lay
Because long I have waited for this day

My Dream

My dream?
What is my dream?
In my dream distance doesn’t exist
You would never need a plane or a train hug the ones you love

In my dream
Happiness is drank by the glass
Sadness is washed away,
By the hose that as a kid I played

Our tears and fears would be all balled up
And hit out of the park
So no little boy is afraid of the dark

In my dream wars are fought with nerf guns
Ice cream is delivered by the tons
Work wouldn’t start it nine
And if it ended at 1 that’d be fine

Test could take themselves
And when writing poems
You can make up words like trelvs
It is a place where all the worlds sorrow
Can be forgotten by tomorrow

In my dream your head rest on my chest
To your check my lips are pressed
The moonlight paints your face
And forever we stay in this place

But when your hand brushes through my hair
I realize this world in not fair
	Because I must wake up

And our time will end
	But in MY dream
You were never just my friend

The Pitch of a Lifetime

His life had boiled down to this one moment
Nerves shaking but could never show it

A lifetime of practice to get to this fall day
Always saying goodbye & never getting to stay

The half dirt covered plate at his feet
As thousands waiting to leave their seat

Years of not knowing if he could ever get here
He looks up and his mind never this clear

Cheers all around fade away
Today was his day

He has but a single task
The question yet to be asked

His stance he choose to switch
And from a knee here comes the pitch
		She said yes

No One Said College Was Over

Go to college they said
To get a real job they plead

Don’t worry about someday
Just get to work by Monday

So here I sit resume in hand
But I feel like I’m stuck in quick sand

What to do? Where to go?
How the hell am I supposed to know?

I have an education
But much to my agitation

It never taught me what to do
Sure I can solve a problem or two
And I am supposed to look at things like few

If I’m so smart?
Why don’t I know where to start?

What tomorrow has in store I am unsure
But my best friend just woke up on my floor

And I’m having the time of my life
Amidst all the struggle and strife

So screw getting older
I’m giving it the cold shoulder

Never Be Afraid To Swing On the Big Swings

Never be afraid to swing on the big swings ...

Whenever your problems seem to big to face
Remember the playground was once too a big place

If you think your right make them prove you wrong
You won't always win but you'll come along

When dad talks always listen
Because one day you'll have a question and you'll miss him.

Friends will come and go
But true friends will steal the show

 Let mean words never stick
And when it comes to band aids... Be quick

Mothers always have a cure
Even when your not sure

If you don't know if its right or wrong..
It's prolly somewhere you don't belong.

Stay as young as long as you can
And as of push pops... Always be a fan

These words I give to you
But if you only remember a few

Never be afraid to swing on the be swings
And always remember to chase your dreams.

Love Is Not a Science

Love is not a science
Nor a story of self- reliance

It does not lay claim
To those who place blame

More than a perfect first date
Or what was once thought to be fate

Love is sadness in a mothers eyes
As far away her son flies

Dropping it all on a dime
For a friendship impossible to define

Love never looses sight
Of what it knows to be right

Impossible to ignore
Like waves crashing upon the shore

It surprises us all
Like a child's first steps from a crawl

It will break us down
But only then can it be found

When I Grow Up

There once was a boy who didn't know what he wanted to do when he grew up

The taller he grew
The more he wondered what to do

People would ask "what do you want to do, or who do you want to be?"

This little boy just never could see
He would think "which is most like me"

"I could fly planes?
Or build really big trains?"

"I could race fast cars,
ORR try and fly to Mars"

"I could be a detective and look through evidence,
or wear a tie and be like one of the presidents"

"Could go looking through the jungle for an unseen lizard,
or write a book about a famous wizard"

"I could drive a big bull dozer,
or learn to pitch and be a big league closer"

"I could become a big movie star,
or travel the world near and far"

The world got big as the little boy thought

There was one person who he was sure would know
Because this is where all little boys knowledge comes to grow

He found him in his work shop taking a break
The boy wondered what of his future he could make?

His dad learned all about the mislaid plans
"Not to worry" said the father as he took him in his hands

For you already have a job one that will someday make you a man
"What is that?
To stay a little boy as long as you can

A Glance

The engine roared as from it steam poured
Rain drops hissed as the black metal they kissed

All filed out as the suited man began to shout

One man stood alone
Nervous, but never checking his phone

A glance back he took,
Just one look

A glance at another life,
 but you only get one
And here is where his begun
He repeated as he climbed aboard
The glance back seeming more absurd
	But still was made
	And these never fade

From the windows dark of night
Soon this town will be out of sight

His mind wonders away
Longing for the beginning of a new day

Long ago he paid his fee
But still able to see
	To see a Sunday service
A little boys glance with a purpose

Shaking his head
As if to forget all that was said

As the suited man ask for his pass
The glance he can’t surpass

Memories crash his face
Like the icy rain covering this place

They are so clear
Shooting to the heart of his fear
As his body begins to steer

        They are but a few
Such a boy in a church pew
-Years later
	The apologized for kiss
As he prayed not to miss
	The long goodbye
	Where she began to cry

His car door he shuts
As on word he struts

	A lifetime ago
A girl he came to know
	From across the isle
	He saw her smile
	Stealing the first glance
	But never taking a chance
Tonight it happened once again

He saw his dreams
But it wasn’t as it seems

It wasn’t a ticket to a new place
But sunlight gleaming off her face

It wasn’t a new town
But something he long ago found
So as the rain fell all around,
Her door he started to pound

Early Spring Morning

Frost covers the green sun hidden blades
As the winter ever so slowly fades

Starved of gentle warm spring air
Birds sing as if to show they’re still there
Forgotten the beauty in their song
They always leave but are never gone

Fresh from winters’ cold fist
Warmer waters bring a calm mist

Sun blossoms all around
In this awaken paradise I have found

Showing no matter how dark winters night
Or how much struggle in the fight
Warmer days will bring new light
Even when it seems out of sight

The world is seen through a whole new lens
And today is when a new day begins

To Try

I want to do something great
	To hit that one homerun
That sails into the October sun
Become the owner of my fate

I want to create my own world
Lost between each college ruled line
Found on a page I have yet to define
Filled with so much yet to be explored

I want to learn her name
	And never loose the audacity
To search for love with unseen capacity
And our dreams to be the same

I want to never say goodbye
	Feel a warm spring breeze
	While looking at autumn trees
But mostly, To never say I didn’t try
