Lisa Lawler Poem
ninety-four million six hundred seventy thousand passing seconds not knowing what we had gotten ourselves into.
One thousand burning fires in our eyes and in our hearts
Dreaming of what will happen next
One thousand beautiful walks, watching the sun rise as our eyes widen, suddenly we are as awake as the sun is.
ninety-four million six hundred seventy thousand passing seconds thats how many seconds it takes to extinguish the fire and close our eyes.
ninety-four million six hundred seventy thousand passing seconds until you leave without a sound
how long I will sit here and think of those astonishing ninety-four million six hundred seventy thousand passing seconds.

Lisa Lawler Poem
Looking for answer, drowning deep beneath sorrow, trying to breathe,
Gasping, panting for air, frantically searching to find an escape
Like a weight crashing heavily upon the seafloor.

Lisa Lawler Poem
The stories you have heard, sharing a bond between souls and companions.
The dances you have danced, lighting a friendship with every celebration.
The songs you have sung, harmonizing a spirit inside this wondrous land.
You the ash wood, the catlinite, you the porcupine quills and feathers.
You are the one who betoken the wolves, the lizards, and the black bears.
The smoke flows through your stem to my lungs as the wind flows through your feathers. You the ash wood, the porcupine quills and feathers, which elucidate the wolf.
You allow us partake in rituals, which reinforce our beliefs.
You remind me of the hardships I have gone through, the fight, the struggles.
You emphasize the joy and memories we have had together.
Take me to the content waves on lakes and the moon shining upon them.
Ease my pain, relieve me from my destitution, let me dispatch my ache.
Your smoke fills my lungs as I breathe in deeply, then to relax once more
Releasing the translucent swirls to soar in the midst of the starry atmosphere.

Lisa Lawler Poem
Continuously wandering down the jagged concrete stairs.
My nomadic ways lead me to unanticipated adventures.
The almost infinite stairs decease to somber stars and immeasurable waters.
I stride towards the perimeter, sensation of the bitter waves leads to a chill.
A shadow approaches, closer and closer, swimming gracefully along the timid waves.
Without thought I reach into the darkness, grabbing a hold of cold metal.
Wooden with trim of brass, I step into the diminutive boat.
Soaring along the abyss, watching the stars overtake the sky.
Open waters diminish, trees of vibrant emerald and jade droop over my head.
Lifeless body of water now filled with serene voices and playful motions.
Almost missing the silence, it almost immediately reappears.
Back to never ending waters, though this time I’m not lost in an abyss.
Unlike before the water illuminates my dreams and aspirations.
My demeanor is destroyed to be rebuilt again.
Peace and serenity flow through my veins allowing my heart to beat slowly.
Eyes locked on the crater filled orb illuminating the sky.

Lisa Lawler Poem
Heart swelling, blood pumping swiftly through my veins,
Blood warming my skin, relaxes each and every muscle.
Lungs collapsing, air inhaled brings tranquility,
Every appendage at peace while intentions tense into knots inside my brain.
Soul thriving, aggressively attempting to be released into space,
Along the stars where it belongs to sore, it remains vigorously trembling inside serenity.
Mind vanished, nearly letting the soul take over,
Though the soul is inattentive.

Lisa Lawler Poem
Decaying crimson overpowers my words and thoughts
Shy and scared
Silently sitting in the dark
Your overwhelming blue terrifies me most
Apathetic and
Your eyes disregard your carelessness
Mysteries turn us purple
We want to know the truth, yet we sit in silence
Until crimson has decayed to the most luminescent yellow.

Lisa Lawler Poem
Time, time is the cliché.
Time decides how we live,
Time is short, things take time,
Lost time.
It's time to defy time.
