I Lost It

i lost my pencil today, i should've written
this poem with it
i should've drawn a sketch that would sum
up all my feelings
i should've, but i didn't.

i lost my shoes today, i would've worn
them yesterday
i thought i'd keep them for a special day,
that day has come
now i don't have shoes to wear.

i lost R20 today, i should've bought a pair
of socks
i should've bought some veggies from that
old lady
on the street so she could feed her kids.
i thought I’d keep it for a rainy day, that
day has come
now i don't have a cent.

i lost my tongue today, i thought I’d only
say something
when it suits others. i should've said "i
love you mom"
i should've said " forgive me LORD"
i should've, i should've, i should've.
i could've, but i didn't.

if GOD could grant you a wish today,
would you wish
back everything you've lost, or would you
ask Him to
help you acknowledge the things you still
have.
you could, 'coz you still have your life.
