The Poisonous Snake

You dangerous viper go away
and leave me on my own.
You are a lion and a thief,
trying to steal God's throne.

You shook your fist in anger.
You rebelled against your King.
Someday, Satan, you will pay
for causing me this suffering.

God is angry, Rightfully so.
His creations have turned away.
But his children will rejoice
on the day that Satan pays.

Deceived

I saw a rose with petals red.
I reached for it in haste.
But thorns pierced my hands instead.
That was a sad mistake.

Like that precious rose that bloomed
thus did my love for you.
I should have known that I was doomed.
And now our love is through.

The Unveiled Mystery

The beauty of the universe
is reflected on your face,
when your eyes light up
and you smile so brightly.
Your smile puts a spark
inside my soul.
Once that spark is ignited,
my soul will catch on fire,
and that fire will never go out
Your smile often brings peace,
but can cause a stirring inside my soul
like I've never known before.
How many times have I asked God
to unveil the mystery of your smile?
I still haven't received an answer.
I plan to keep on asking.
Until then, keep on smiling.
Your smile has and will light up my life
for many years to come.

Broken Chains

There was a time when I did not see
how lost I truly was.
It wasn't until you came to me
that I could see my flaws.

It seemed as if my heart was trapped
by a tough steel wall,
and around my foot I carried
a heavy chain and ball.

I don’t know how much time I spent
just kneeling in the sand.
So close to me, my Savior bent
and held me in His hand.

I was so broken before my Lord.
My heart cried out to Him.
I saw the light of the living word,
a light that would not dim.

It beckoned me to follow it,
and follow it, I did.
I know that I will not forget
the words the Father said:

“My Child, I love you so much more
than you could ever know.
I let these trials come to you for
I wanted you to grow.”

“Don’t lose heart for I am here,
and I will always be.
To your Father you are dear.
My child, now you are free.”

The chains that held me captive
Broke and snapped in two.
For today and as long as I live,
My Savior, I Love you.

I love you for saving my soul
When it was truly lost.
Thank you for making me whole.
I know you paid the cost.

Tomorrow

I can see you in the distance
beckoning to me with eager hands.
I long to embrace you and hold you close,
but you always seem so far away.
You are a stranger to me.
By the time I have the chance to meet you
I realize it is not you I am meeting,
but a reflection of you.
Why are you so distant?
Why are you always to come
but never here today?
Why do you watch me
with arms open wide,
always watching, but never embracing?
I look forward to meeting you someday.
When the sun rises in the sky,
in it glorious splendor,
I will greet the new day,
knowing that I may never greet you.
Right here, right now,
although I long for tomorrow
today will have to be enough.
