Tomorrow

I can see you in the distance beckoning to me with eager hands. I long to embrace you and hold you close, but you always seem so far away. You are a stranger to me. By the time I have the chance to meet you I realize it is not you I am meeting, but a reflection of you. Why are you so distant? Why are you always to come but never here today? Why do you watch me with arms open wide, always watching, but never embracing? I look forward to meeting you someday. When the sun rises in the sky, in it glorious splendor, I will greet the new day, knowing that I may never greet you. Right here, right now, although I long for tomorrow today will have to be enough.
