The Things Around Us - Part 2

(Continued from Part 1)

Transparent figures walk at a flirtatious pace
On world-class runways, with no expression on their face
Parading styles you can't afford in your possession
They are the ghostly models of the latest, greatest FASHION.

A millisecond blink, a click, some weird noise,
A virtual reality for all the girls and boys, and men and women,
From X-Box to the Web, from Lasik to Radiology -
At work, at school, at home,
Invade the blinks of the mind-boggling TECHNOLOGY.

Hard sharpened teeth are clutching at my feet
"You won't go far! You have deadlines to meet!
Go back to work, we hunger for your check.
Oh no, we don't really care that you broke your back."
The swollen lips repeat "You have a chance!
And all you need is years of education,
The right color of skin, and perfect credit-pay-back evidence.
We'll hire you if you're that certain kind,
Then close the firm and move so far you'll never find."
More faulty words are slipping from the tongues
"Don't worry, our brand won't hurt your lungs.
Enjoy yourself! (*at your own cost)"
You think you're cool, when sadly you are lost.
The "sharpened, swollen, slipping" are after you and me
They are the widely-opened mouth of the ECONOMY

Enormous brains stroll through historic halls
Preparing campaigns, false promises, ready for the brawls.
Deciding wars, neglecting harsh critiques
They are the brains of brainless POLITICS

A large behind sits comfy in its chair
It "covers" all, at all times, everywhere.
From Maine, to Oregon, to most southern tip of Texas
Sit one-half IRS and the other TAXES.

A sagging belly and a double chin,
A pair of dark circles and a droopy skin,
Decide to make a move and Go For It!
It's time to freshen up and tighten up a bit.
As they arrive at their first appointment
They're quickly greeted by awaiting disappointment
"You want to look younger? feel better? No, No, No!
Read through your policy, you fools, we are the HMO!"

*

On this, my friends, I'll go to sleep
I'm tired, time for counting sheep.
Just one more thing I'd like to add,
Last words just pondered in my head
The moral of the story is,
That if you want to live with ease,
Through all commotions, bring your sense of HUMOR
Just so that you, yourself, don't turn into an ugly tumor.

The Pessimist and the Optimist

Part I - The Pessimist

I am a person without a name
I am a fire without a flame
I am a flower that will never bloom
I am a house without a room
I am a candle that will never melt
I am a feeling that cannot be felt
I am a picture without a frame
I am a goal, without any aim
I am a winner without a prize
I am a party without a surprise
I am a dreamer without a dream
I am a river without a stream
I am a poem without a rhyme
I am a clock that won't show you the time
I am a portrait without a face
I am a trial without a case
I am a key that won't open the door
I am a toy you don't want anymore
I am a bird that forgot how to fly
I am a joker, but I always cry
I am a thing that was never in use
I am a game that somebody will lose
I am a story that will never end
Well, I'm just somebody you won't understand.

:(

Part II - The Optimist

I am a person with a beautiful name
I am a fire with most powerful flame
I am a flower that will always bloom
I am a house with room after room...
I am a candle that burns through the night
I am a feeling of lovers' delight
I am a picture with a solid frame
I am a healer, I carry no shame
I am a winner with the top, 1st place prize
I am a party with the biggest surprise
I am a dreamer with colorful dreams
I am a river with thousands of streams
I am a poem with a perfect rhyme
I am a clock that will show any time
I am a portrait of an angelic face
I am a trial with a strong, worthwhile case
I am a key that unlocks any door
I am a toy you will always adore
I am a bird that soars high in the sky
I am a joker, I forgot to cry
I am a thing that you'll always use
I am a game that you just cannot lose
I am a story that will never end
I am a trip! Come, join me my friend!

My Life Without You

A World without you is the one with space.
Whenever and wherever I desire I may pace.
A world in which at many things I stare,
But everything is meaningless
'cause you're not there.

A Day without you doesn't change its name
The sun goes up and down just the same
And I can find so many things to do,
But none are as important
as a thought of you.

An Hour without you is just as long
A melody with words remains to be a song
Which maybe beautiful, but when you're not around
It has no beat, no meaning,
and no sound.

A Minute without you still rushes by.
I look around and there's only I, I, I ...
The echoes of my own words bounce off my weary mind
I know you're right, I know - I lied,
I was so stupid and so blind.

A Second without you - by now is gone.
Another one, another one, another one...
Sometimes I wish for them to disappear -
They bring too many thoughts
and make things so unclear:
I'm wrong, I'm right, I'm mean, I'm kind,
I know, I can't make up my mind;
I'm warm, I'm cold, I'm mad, I'm dear,
Is it my anger or my fear?

There are things that I can't explain
They're not quite simple, not so plain.
But if you hear a sudden, steady beat,
Just know that it's my heart,
and you're a part of it.

Dance With Me and Sing the Song of Spring

*** In the style of the oldies :)

Dance with me among the stars tonight
And hold me tight.
When we touch and when I kiss your lips
It feels so right.
Every word you say to me is like a song of spring,
And with you I will forever sing.

Even when the winter’s cold embrace
Touches your face,
I will make you warm inside and
I’ll be by your side
No one in this crazy world is more in love than I,
You’re the star I’ve searched for in the sky.

So, dance with me under the stars tonight,
Dance with me lets make this moment right,
Sing to me your lovely song of spring
And with you I will forever sing,
And with you I will forever sing.

Thought I can’t foretell of things to be
But you’re with me.
And this moment’s where I want to be
And tenderly
I hold every kiss and every touch and sound,
Thank you love - for it is love I found.

So, dance with me under the stars tonight,
Dance with me and make this moment right,
Sing to me your lovely song of spring
And with you I will forever sing,
And for you I will forever sing.

The Things Around Us - Part 1

Big, giant hands are wrapped around my neck
Before they let me take a step they always pull me back
They slap me, choke me, wipe their sweat on me
They are the hands of mighty HISTORY.

Suspicious eyes are following my path
"Did you commit a sin? If so, then did you take a holly bath?"
Always in sight in every city, state, and region
They are the eyes of the RELIGION.

The heavy blistered feet are dancing on my head
Their all-time mission is to check if I have read
With twists and tangos leading to examination
They are the tired feet of Higher EDUCATION.

The hanging ears listen to my rage,
Then scorn with bitter "When I was your age..."
It will be wrong no matter how I plea
They are the ears of Dear FAMILY.

The crooked fingers holding onto theirs
Antiques and mansions, gems and market shares;
In priceless gardens counting every seed
They are the fingers of the GREED
(We often call them the ELITE).

Country-Ish

Oh, he’s my man!
But he’s not really mine.
In fact, he’s married and belongs to someone else.
I know, I know… What kind of fool am I,
to get myself into this love-struck mess?
It’s just that I, can’t get him off my mind.
He's handsome, smart, and oh, so darn delicious!
He’s got it all! And that’s what makes me blind.
I think I need some medication (oh, that’s vicious!)

He’s got me going through to hell and back,
For trying to seduce him from his lady.
It’s wrong, I know, but I don’t give a...heck,
Especially when he says “Who’s your daddy?”
One day, I know, he will be mine, for sure.
I don’t know how, yet, but I’ll find a way.
It ain’t me who feels insecure.
That’s all, my friends. Ya’ll have the nicest day!

Do You Hear the Gentle Whisper

Do you hear the gentle whisper
          of the falling autumn leaves?
When the nights are getting crisper,
but the heart – it still believes,
That tomorrow will be brighter,
That the sun will melt the ice,
It’s the ice I see inside your deep blue eyes.

Do you know why clocks are ticking
            so much slower than before?
Why my thoughts of you are weeping,
and the eyes look at the door?
It’s because you never left me,
In my memories you’re still
The most beautiful creation of free will.

So if I could ask just one thing,
           as this moment passes by,
Was this love a simple “nothing”
and should we just say goodbye?
Do you hear the gentle whisper,
of the falling autumn leaves?
It’s the sound of my heart that still believes.

Lullaby

This little heart is soft, yet strong;
It's beating flows into a song...
A lullaby of wondering eyes
Which for the first time see the skies.

This perfect hand lies in my palm;
My soul is peaceful...and so calm..
This little body that I see
Becomes the biggest part of me.

A part a of long forgotten flame;
A part of love that turned to shame...
But I won't let it bother me,
I'll think of thing that yet to be:

First smile, so innocent and pure,
First steps, so short and insecure.
I see these eyes - they're full of shine!
This is my baby, it is Mine!

My second life has just begun,
I'm not alone, I've got my son.
My happiness is now complete,
Something that no one can defeat.

Let Your Soul

Don’t bash somebody,
just because you know they’re strong.
Don’t lie to someone,
just because you know they’re weaker.
It’s not unheard of
                       to distinguish right from wrong,

Give it a try: let your soul become the speaker.

The Last Words of the Apprentice

Pretend, that I was just a figment

                  of your grand imagination,

That I was never really here

for you to laugh, for you to judge.

You know, I’ll never be as brilliant,

                  as your desire and expectation,

But I have no regrets, no fear...

                  I’ll disappear, without a grudge.

And you - will never ever find me,

but then again, you won’t be looking.

Like me, there are a dime a dozen,

you will forget, you will move on.

Still, it was you who first defined me,

                  when I was just a wet-nosed rookie,

Through your attention and your sarcasm.

                  I thank you!...as I carry on.
