Danny

Danny

How proud am I to say your mine
you’ve grown up strong and true
From little boy with deep blue eyes
To lad with hair like … glue

You are my little hoodie
I would not change a thing
Your bright and kind and loving
You are my everything

With all that you achieve
Shows who you really are
All the steps you take my love
Will challenge you by far

Storm Coming

Red sky streams through the clouds
Rain lingers on new leaves
Clinging until its weight drops
Smashes into the hard ground .
Water runs along the tiny trails in the mud
Worms stir to the lap of the tide
Birds sit expectantly awaiting the feast.

The sweet smell of the meadow wafts on the breeze
All charged with the storm that approaches
The corn rustles as the wind caresses its limbs
The field mice snuggle together, warm and soft

The sky darkens the clouds roll in thick and black
Thunder rumbles through them shouting its arrival
Quite now…. waiting for the flashing forks
Blinding light .. A spark.
The fire turns the sky red.

Childhood Memories

When we think of you our faces light up
Memories flood through us of happiness
Snuggling against you, listening to you breathe
Our hearts beating gently in time

Your lap is warm from little bottoms
Your arms strong and safe around us
Our eyes bright with laughter
Your hair glistening in the sun

Your voice is soft and smooth
It washes over us with tales of adventure
You kiss us with soft lips, pulling us close
Tell us how much we are wanted.

Little bodies topped and tailed
On a bubble covered draining board
Wrapped in fluffy towels by the fire
Our nighties warming on the hearth

Long walks in the woods with picnic baskets
Dandelion blooms toppling from overfilled buckets
Wellington boots and bread for the ducks.
Planting kisses on scrapped knees and elbows
Wiping away our tears, telling us it would be ok

Tying pretty ribbons into our plaited hair
Our clumsy fingers taught knit one pearl one
All these things you have undertaken
With endless patience and immense love

Thank you for making our childhood so happy

Baby

Baby

Gone is the doll with which to play
Terror and exhaustion are all that stay
No where to go and no one to care
All that’s left is chaos and despair

Who will remove this burden from me
Who will allow me some space to see
Lonely blue eyes, set and glaring
Baby crying, desperate, waring

Tired and angry is all I’ve become
How can I resent someone so young
My child, my love, my wanted one
My gorgeous , perfect little son

Where is the picture I used to see
Beautiful baby and happy me
Pretty clothes and talcum fresh
Milky warm in a Moses nest

Eventually the time is here
For dealing with my inner fear
I can fulfil my greatest role
Mother, lover, heart and soul

Mummy, daddy and baby boy
My life is full of hope and joy
I’m no longer scared and wrong
My babies love has made me strong.

If Tomorrow

If tomorrow I could never see you again
What would I say to you today?

Would I tell you that I cannot live without you
Or the touch of your lips on mine?

Would I tell you I would miss the feel of your hands …
The smell of your body as you hold me in your arms?

Would I tell you that I cannot live without
Your breath warm against my soft skin as you kiss me?

Would I tell you that my life would be empty and cold
Without you in it?
No smile to chase the chills away
No beautiful eyes to look into mine.

As I think of these things today
I know how lucky I am because…
Today I can tell you I love you
Today I can tell you how happy you make me
Today I can tell you my life has meaning with you in it

I am lucky because …
tomorrow you will still be here.

Sister

When I need a friend you are there
When I am low you lift me
When no one else understands, you stand by me
When I feel fat you say , you’re gorgeous…
When my life seems meaningless you give it meaning
When I cant take anymore you carry the load
When all seems lost you find a path

You are unselfish with your love
It is unconditional and enduring
I never need to worry it wont be there
All I need to do is ask

You knows me like no other
You feel my happiness and my pain
You are my confidant and council
From childhood games to adult roles
You have seen me through it all.

You are my friend and my sister
And I will always love you

My Mum

What is a mum?

A friend who only wants the best for you
Someone to share your deepest lows and your greatest joy’s
Who will wipe away your tear’s through their own
Who does not want you to suffer one ounce of hurt
And says it will be alright when you cant see how

Who stands by you especially when you fail
Who tells you, you done your best
Even when you don’t think so.

Someone who has seen you learn everything
And has probably taught you most of it

Is proud of every achievement however small
Listens to your endless dreams and smiles
Realising she has shaped who you have become

Will defend you against all the odds with unwavering loyalty
and would lay down her life to save yours without a second thought

That is a mum ….. This is my mum
